Hello, Zoners!

I have two tracks of the same part of one of my new songs - the one with a guitar solo (beta version) and the other without it (alpha version). Both recordings are not the top quality but it's a first idea.
Which version do YOU find better? Is it the alpha or the beta version? Make your choice!!!

Thank you, Mike! Your choice was registrated by TED!!!

Hey, you sleepy Zoners! Wake up!!!
The poll is still running. Where are all the guys who wanted to hear some more tunes made by my feather?

I'll close the doors on next saturday at 12:00PM while you'll be shopping in the super markets to bye some things for the weekend. Should I play the solo or better not? Is it the alpha or the beta version? It'll take only 10 minutes and a little vote either under this topic or under the link 2 posts above. I would be very apriciated to hear your true voices.
Don't be shy and tell me the reason for your choice! I'm really curioused to hear your opinions and critics. Be a part of the song's creation and birth!

Who's Danny Barion - I'm lost completely - what's this planet thingy got to do with anything?
How do you play a feather?

Well, Danny Barion that's me...
Planet Outpost is one of the songs from my new album which is still in progress...
And my feather is simply my creative power...

Oooh right...Sheriff???
So you want us to make judgement on two alternative approaches to a creation of yours - based on what criteria (given that it was presumably written/composed for some purpose e.g. a film)?
Rog
pssst - it's keeping this thread at the top of the list....
p.s. Who is Ted, by the way?

Hmmmmm, personally I like both! I think I'd prefer Alpha, but with a shortened version of the guitar solo coming in a bit later.

Great music!

Thank you for keeping the thread up to the top...
Well, Roger, it's simply a part of a little symphony in rock minor - nothing special...
I hope you all will soon have the chance to hear more of it. I guess I'll need more than two month before I'll start the end mix of the most tracks. And then it will last a while for making and releasing the CDs. And last but not least I'll have to make a contract with the GEMA (the German society for musical and gigging rights). Why can't we do music only???

Hmmm, let me puzzle! You would let me play this solo, wouldn't you?

I've noted your vote, Carrie! And thank you very much for doing so!!!
And also I'm appriciated by your comments.

Yes, I'm also deciding to cut the solo, but I'm still not sure on which point. Hmm, I'm just asking myself if Beethoven would have used the internet too if he could have done so?! (I'm not sure, is this a correct sentence in english?)

IF I had to choose between Alpha or Beta I'd choose Alpha and then Beta it up a little...
So far my favorite remains my own version of it. I just wish I had more time to work on it.
There's something that really bugs me about the string part...
May be it's those unwanted seconds? Jumping from major to minor like some William Bird?
LOL

So, should I add 0.5 to both versions?

I'm just working on a new song...

Do you mean the first seconds of the part?
Yeah, it changes from major to minor. Let's grow more melancholy!!!

Danny - the guitar suits the Em/F#m rock rhythm a lot better than violins so I go with the beta version - where did you get the style file from or did you compose that yourself too?
Rog
p.s. Reminds me of Metallica
p.p.s There's a documentary series on Beethoven on British TV at the moment if you can get it over there in Germany...

I'm not using any style files because I want to prevent any copyright fights. I'm doing a lot of work to compose my songs and I don't want to give anyone the chance to get any money out of my projects without working for it.
No work - no money!

And thank you for your choice, Roger!
I knew you would let me play this solo...

Metallica? Oh, that's a little bit far away from this style, I'm afraid. But if you hear that band out of this part then for you it is so...
Music is a very flexible thing - especially the feeling for it. Nevertheless, to be compared with Metallica is not the worsest thing...

I don't have any TV - I'm a barbarian!!!
I didn't really watch TV since 2 years because of the many nonsens that they showed and still show in it...

Yeah! Last night there must have been a web crash because I didn't get a connection to the internet but now it seems to be solved. BTW, I'm just writing a mail! Should I send it to your PC or to your MAC?

Okay, I've decided the way of sureness. It's gone to the MAC...

Hi there, like the Beta version better, but to Alpha's sake let me say that on the beta vesion the guitar solo was like too much going on, like someone who talks too much and you lose the context, I can't describe it better.
I would very much like to hear the beta vession but without that much solo, maybe give it some time to breath.

A really good point, Theodore! And I've smiled a little bit because of your discription - you hit ten points at the target.
Well, which part of the solo I'll decide to shorten a bit is still unclear to me but there's still a little chance that I don't need to play the whole solo... ...hehehe, well, I don't really believe this option...

Tough call! Id say alpha, however they both sound great! Just wondering, will there be lyrics in this upcoming album? This particular song sounds like pink floyd, its a good thing!

Thank you for your vote, Phil!

No lyrics, no singer! It'll come a little story book with that album which will tell you the whole story of that space adventure. But there will still be enough space for spinning around with your own thoughts and imaginations. I've thought this time I'll go another way and create a full instrumental opus.
Okay, for you this won't seem to be another way because this will be the first work from me you'll know...

Nevertheless, I hope you and all the others in this world will enjoy this music. It's partly rock and partly classic. And some other well known styles will fade through some of the songs. It's really comprehensive with alternations. For you all I do my very best...
