My wife turned on her laptop 2 days ago and had the following message appear on her desktop as she brought her system up:

RTHDCPL.EXE ILLEGAL SYSTEM DLL RELOCATION

The system DLL user 32.dll was relocated in memory. The application will not function properly. The relocation occurred because the DLL C:\\WINDOWS\system32\HHCTRL.OCX occupied an address range reserved for Windows system DLLs. The vendor supplying the DLL should be contacted for a new DLL.

Can anyone explain what's up and what exactly we should do about it?

Thanks!

I did a search for DLL's on the site...didn't find anything pertinent. Fran, can you be more specific where I'd find this fix?

Thanks...

lately when I get any type of error message I just type it into Google and sure enough 1000 hits on how to fix it.
Sometimes microsoft isn't the easiest to understand but someone that has gone through it can help. http://www.synthzone.com/ubbs/Forum37/HTML/015275.html
here is the link posted earlier this week.

Thanks Mike...

I did just what you suggested and, of course found what I needed...

Hopefully its as simple a fix as it appears to be...

I put up the fix in both the PC forum and the General arranger forum and mailed it out to all my various email list members back the day it happened.

Bill,

The fix is easy, just don't let your wife use the computer.
