I subcribe to the Wachovia Center/ Comcast Spectacor newsletter out of Philadelphia

The most recent letter I recieved from them started with:

"Dear Larry,
As a friend of the Wachovia Center, we'd like to give you the opportunity to purchase your tickets BEFORE the general public to see the only Philadelphia area appearance of the Italian tenor phenomenon, Andrea Bocelli."

Wow I thought that was great. I was eager to buy my front row tickets, that is, until I saw the prices...WOW !

"PRE-SALE INFORMATION:
PRICES:
$350.00, $195.00, $95.00, & $55.00 + applicable handling, convenience and facility fees.

Holy Cow..$350 ? for one ? Yikes !

I'd love to go, but $350 ? ...I don't think so...even though he may be worth it

Has anyone heard of any one single performer getting this much for one ticket? And is there anyone you would pay $350 for a 2 hr concert?

Heard Streisand's concert also had stratospheric price.

You could buy the DVD also...watch it on your nice big screen/plasma TV

I'm not a concert goer type (especially for those kind of money), besides my family owns a sound system company that caters to these performers, so I get back stage passes all the time

I remember 2 years ago in the ruins of CHICHEN-ITZA between Cancun and Merdia the
capital of the Yucatan here in Mexico the seats for a PAVAROTTI concert were starting at $1,000.00 each...I of course did not attend ......

Back in the 60's in Atlantic City New Jersey, on Steel Pier I saw many "concerts", including the Beach Boys, The Four Seasons, and the Temptations among others.

Price? Free

I suppose those days are long gone uh?

Until you HEAR real, live instruments in a real, live room .... you don't have any idea what they sound like. I don't care how good your stereo is, until you hear an orchestra in an acoustic setting .... you've NEVER heard a violin or anything else acoustic. Paper cones and plastic horns just can't do justice to the fine nuances that these instruments produce ina concert setting.
Do yourself a favor and take in a professional orchestra ...... you'll be amazed at the subtlties that you miss on recordings.

I was so fortunate to have played in the Philadelphia Acadamy of Music as teenager .... it really got me psych'd to further my music education. As a Temple student, we were in there several times with orchestra as well as concert choir, but the REAL treat was hearing the Phildelphia orchestra in there. Man .... that's some good stuff.

All this electronic stuff can cloud your eardrums with compressed, sterile, perfect ( sometimes BORING )sound. Get back to the real source of music whenever you can ... it's good for the soul!

Larry ... You COULD buy less expensive seats ... Some things in life ARE worth the $$$ because they are 'once in a lifetime' situations ... Get the cheaper seats, but GO !!! ... I really doubt that you will regret it ...

There was recently (two days ago) a performance in Vancouver with Sara Mcglaughlin, Rod Stewart, and Robin Williams (as the warm up). It was in support of the Tsunami Relief Fund.
150 attended....tickets were $5000.00 apiece. Apparently they raised $1.75M

Too rich for my blood.
