I read some of the comments here about 'The Bar'. Like Boo says, this might very well be what we need, a place to talk about most things, not having to write OT every time. Like Boo says, sometimes the temperature of the arranger world cools a little, but we still want to stay in touch, don't we?
That's where the bar comes in, a place for me to tell you guys about a crappy day at my daywork, or for anyone else to lighten their heart. I think this is a great idea, and might be my favourite with all you colourful friends. By the way, looking forward to visit Tennessee this summer!

That's what's great about being a full-time picker--no daywork! If you get to Tennessee, you're not too far from Louisiana. Ya'll come on down.

Hey guys let me buy you all a round. I am getting mixed reactions myself from members when all I have done is offer a forum where OT chat is permitted. The other forums are still exactly the same as they've ever been.

It's good to see you all here. There are many postings on this forum that would be out of place elsewhere and probably wouldn't have happened otherwise. And it's not like I've banned all OT threads on the forums but if it belongs here then so be it.

Keeping my own thread alive here!
Thanks for the round Nigel!
I would give this forum a chance, I think most people are against change of any kind. After a month or two you can tell whether you nailed it or if it was a flop.
Personally I think it's a great idea. All the OT on the arranger side showed a cooling off tendency between the releases of new arrangers.
Good luck!

I figure it really can't hurt having a free area to chat. While OT posting was always allowed in moderation it was discouraged if it began to dilute the forum and got in the way of talking about music. Now people can feel freer about posting threads that they may have before.

I really don't mind if interest does drop off though I hope it doesn't. I guess some people will come here rarely, others will check in regularly. Like you say only time will tell.

I'm just outside Shreveport/Bossier City. We have five casinos, lots of lakes and golf courses and great weather. There is lots to do.

I have landed a few times in Shreveport when I was an IP at Sheppard Air Force Base, so I think I could find my way once again! We'll stay in touch. By the way, in Tennessee I'm going for two weeks at Steve Kaufman's acoustic guitar camps. Hee-haw, I'm looking forward to that!
Talk about ClubMed!
