I work with a team that is responsible for the Sony PS2 versions of Full Spectrum Warrior. Although it sounds like fun it is actually very demanding work under time pressure .... but it has been a very cool career for the past 20 years. I started with a Commodore 64 for MIDI sequencing, taught myself to program computers and ended up in the computer/video games industry. That is why I was recruited in Melbourne, Australia in the late 80s and brought over to Los Angeles where I still am today.

Nigel,
somewhere in here I still have the Comm 64 sequencer-recording software I/We wrote.
I still have my bong game too
Both worth about the same amount. ZILCH!\
I don't have the comm 64 anymore but still have both the Amiga 2000's that used to run this studio. They are worth about the same amount
Best,
Bebop

Although I worked on the PS2 version of Full Spectrum Warrior you can download the PC demo to try it out. Note though it is rated "Mature" because the language used is VERY strong, though the demos on the Xbox and PS2 were bleeped and I guess the PC demo probably is as well. But that is why the question is asked if you are over 17 years old. I'm not sure why the publisher decided do that though realism was key to them so I guess that is why. The soldiers talk like soldiers talk so the "F" word is used liberally in the final version. It certainly surprised me when we were first supplied with the audio files for the game. Every other title I have worked on over the years has been very much for family consumption. Though it may have affected sales because the new version we are working on "Ten Hammers" is going to have an option to have the audio bleeped in the final version as well. The company I work for doesn't have any say in the game content. We are just contracted to move it to the Sony PS2 by THQ who publish it.

The first version of this game was originally commissioned by the US Army for combat simulation. Then after that they were given permission by the Army to develop the public version.

So what brand of games console does your son use Tony ?

Nigel, We don't have one, his cousin has a PS2 the he uses at their house when visiting
I always promised to get one for them, never did, it's hard getting things down here so he and his sister both use whatever games the computer can come up with, ie: Disney.com, cartoon network, Hotwheels, Barbie and the like...they stay happy while winning....hehehe what with this last hurricane, there hasn't been time for anything, even had to put the guitar away for now..have to wait until thing get a little more back to normal....BTW, Thank you again for all of your help, you are indeed a true friend.....

Hey, that's very cool, Nigel!

I also started to program computers on an old C64 (later C128) before I came to an Atari ST after I digged the whole PC technology (BTW: I'm still digging PCs!)...

Wow, what a long time we've left behind us on those keyboards and screens. Even today, the old computer games are IMHO much more funny than newer modern games. They are mostly the same old games but with newer and better graphics. In 1980 I needed 2 hours to play a whole game. Now, 25 years later, I need minimal 2 hours to just know what the story of the game is about...

Things has changed but the fun still is with me!!!

Regards, Danny
