Mike, I couyld initiate a civil suit, but the guy has nothing. Money is what these nasty little bottom feeding lawyers arer all about.

This guy will do time for the assualt. We found a surveilance video of him outside my warehouse with a knife drawn before he entered. He'll get convicted of this latest of many felonies, but can still initiate a "he said-he said" civil suit.

I am really pissed off, but not ready to diss the process. Remember the OJ/Nichelle incident? OJ was not convicted of the murder, but lost a civil suit, which was some consolidation/justice for the Brown family.

What a mess! The good news is, I'm sore, but able to type and play keys. It will be a while on the B-3 and guitar.

Like someone on the other post said I would counter sue just on principle, so as not to give him the satisfaction. Just think if you both win like amounts it nulls itself out.

Ya I'm talking tough but don't know what I'd do if it were my time, money, and aggravation.

Still feeling guilty that you might have hurt him too much? Apparently he didn't learn anything from this episode. He can't get your money with a knife, so he'll try it with a scummy lawyer. If you were to settle out of court, what would that teach him? That he can go find the next rich person and do it again? Sorry to hear about all this Russ. How incredibly frustrating.

Russ, I'm no lawyer, but you should get your own copy of that tape ASAP because it tears the guy's story.

I should think that a lawsuit wouldn't get past deposition with that tape at the ready...

I know you have friends that are lawyers. You can bury the scum bag lawyer with paper work and all other kinds of discouraging tactics. The kids lawyer is a Hack at best. Reach out to your friends who know somebody willing to help put this to bed easily.

Translation to above: lawyer is looking for an easy mark!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only two professional people I have ever trusted is my accountant & my lawyer. I got lucky on both counts

Sadly, this will come down to a time issue. We've already sent the image file of the guy with the knife already out to the police, county attorney and to his "attorney" from my security system camera.

The issue will all go away. I just have to be prepared to either write him a check (probably significantly smaller than they're asking for), or spend the same amount or more on legal defense fees. The interesting thing is, the "lawyer" is not trying to get me to drop the criminal complaint against the kid as part of "the deal".

Right now, production schedules for a new project which will take more than 40 hours a week for a year are so tight that I can't spend much time away from work.

I'm realistic, I think. Of the people I have helped, about 1 out of 20 have tried a hussle. I had one lady steal checks and cash a few. One fellow threatened to blackmail me, thinking I was not going to go to the law to report him and his threat to tell tales that were easily proven not to be true. Another stole a company car he was using for work and wrecked it fleeing police in another state. The list goes on...and on.

In spite of that, I get major personal satisfactionm when helping people who need and appreciate it.

I just have to be aware of the possibility of running into this kind of jerk.

And I'm not going to change the way I do things.

Good news...the local bar is looking into the situation with the little shyster. Seems like he has been acrtive in initiating this kind of intimidation before.

My corporate lawyer just wrote him and said that there would be reprocussions on my side if an action was initiated.

I've decided I'm not going to roll over on this one.
