Hi Frankieve,

You're in luck , thanks to Joe Water's excellent PSR2000/2100 tutorial site of which covers this very subject. Since the Tyros shares a nearly identical OS to the PSR2000/2100, the following links should provide just the answers you're looking for :
http://psrtutorial.com/Lessons/L_Personalizing/LP_Registrations/LPR_StepByStep/lpr_stepbystep.html
http://psrtutorial.com/Lessons/L_Personalizing/LP_Registrations/lp_registrations.html
http://psrtutorial.com/Lessons/L_QuickSteps/QS_RegMemory/qs_regmemory.html

I think Joe's PSR2000/2100 PSRTutorial is a terrific resource site for BOTH PSR2000/2100 AND Tyros owners.

Happy keyboarding from a fellow Tyros enthusiast,

Scott

The Tutorial page tells it all, but the number one thing you must do is, after saving the registration(s), you must then save the Registration BANK, before turning off or changing Banks.

Nothing to it, just set up the keyboard and voice combinations as you wish, press the MEMORY button to the left of the registration buttons and then one of the registrations. You can also choose different banks if 8 isn't enough, but as mentioned earlier be sure to save the reg bank either to the internal memory or disk before you switch off! Remember too that the freeze button enables you to choose what the registrations change when you recall them, press DIRECT ACCESS and then the freeze button to toggle the different options.
You can also reprogram the One Touch Settings for any style that is saved in user memory (to do it with the presets you must first save them to user memory), again memory and then one of the OTS buttons.
Note: If you arent running the latest OS1.2 on the tyros, you will find that changing the OTS will revert to the default fingering mode in the accompaniment section as programmed into the OTS settings! Cure.. upgrade to 1.2 OS!

Regards
Simon

OK,

I managed to get the Registration kinda working,

1 make a folder
2 create a registration

But I thought each reg can be named which I did but when I open the folder up and then the reg the individual regs are not named, they just light up when you touch them, so how am I supposed to know what reg is what?

Is it designed for one song and 8 variations for that one reg/song?

help

Frankie

Look for the EDIT button in the lower right corner of the REGISTRATION BANK screen. Select the registration bank you created and then press that EDIT button. This will bring up the REGISTRATION EDIT display. From this screen you can select, name, or delete any of the individual 8 registrations you set up

Cheers

Did that but how do you get it to display ex

reg 1 bass/drums
reg 2 strings brass
reg 3 bossa nova
so on

The folder tree seems like it goes likes this

Main Folder REGISTRATIONS
REG bank
regs 1-8
How do you name and view when playing the REG 1-8?

Thanks

Hey Frankieve,

A couple of days ago, I sent you the PSR2100 'Cumbia' style which you had requested for on a separate thread. Did you receive them ok?

In the meantime, I've noticed that you've subsequently deleted that posting thread.

Frankieve: Oops, My apologies for the mistake. I don't know how on earth I ever got you confused with MC:
http://www.synthzone.com/ubbs/Forum37/HTML/007471.html

whose name isn't even remotely similar to yours.

Onto your question re creating & displaying registration names in the Tyros LCD display:

1) Press 'Regist Bank' button
2) Press the upper toggle button above Reg (lighted) button no. 7
3) Press the lower toggle button above Reg (lighted) button no 1
3) Select one of the 8 registrations displayed in the LCD screen you want to rename, using one of the side buttons (A-I) next to LCD
4) Press the lower toggle button below Reg (lighted) button no 7

A display pops up which allows you to rename the Registration' current name. Repeat for all other Registrations (1-8). It's IMPORTANT then to remember to "re-SAVE" the 'Registration Bank' file to permanentantly preserve all the changes you made.

Ok, on a parting note:

Knock knock
Who's there?
Frankfurter
Frankfurter who?
Frankfurter the lovely evening

Frank, the only way to see the name of a Registation is in the Edit mode. The stadard advice is: Name the Registration Bank so that it will remind you of what's in the Bank. A bank might represent 1 song, 2 songs or 8 songs. It depends on songs and your approach. Everybody does it a little different.

Hope that helps,

You can see the Bank names by pressing Direct Access then touching a Registration button.

Thanks Don, now I see the regis,
So I was able to make a folder than I named a reg and came out with 8 regis and named them.

My new problem is that I want to make another set of regis but they still show what I just did, How do I start again?

I can't understand why I'm having such a problem with this?

Uncle Dave says he owes me so I expect him at my front door to give me a hands on tutorial this afternoon, but then again i could be mistaken.

just kidding,

I'll keep playing with the regs but if someone knows what I'm talking about, please give me a clue

thanks

Frankie,

The easiest way to start another registration bank 'from scratch' is to simply turn OFF the keyboard and reboot, as currently loaded 'registration bank' files always REMAIN loaded until you either load another 'registration bank' file, or power down (and reboot) the keyboard. Just make sure (if you don't want to lose the orginal reg bank file) to remember to back up it up to the Ty's: user memory area, hard Drive, or onto a floppy BEFORE you turn off the keyboard.

Another way to delete regs is to selectively delete 'individual' regisistrations, up to all 8 of them, via the 'Registration Edit' window:

1) From the Main LCD display, select the J button to enter the 'Reg Bank' Window

2) Select the individual registration you want to delete from: buttons: A-J

3) Select Edit (upper toggle 7 button) to enter the 'Reg Edit' window

4) Select the individual reg(s) you which to delete (buttons: A-J)

5) Press Delete (lower toogle 5 button) and confirm deletion.

6) The lighted buttons associated with the individual regs which were deleted will no longer be lite.

Hope this helps.

Scott

You are saving your regs to floppy disc, right?

Once saved, you can replace any settings without fear of losing them from the disc. Or, you can, as Scott says, turn off the KB and start with a clean slate.

OTS setting are saved & included as part of a 'style'. You can though, save settings stored in a 'currently selected' OTS button (1-4) by first calling up a style with OTS, selecting one of the 4 OTS buttons, and then select the 'memory button' followed by any one of the 8 reg buttons you want to save the currently selected OTS button's settings to. It's important to make sure the 'Memory Contents' checked boxes include all of the OTS setting parameters you wish to be included to be saved into a reg memory. Hope this makes sense. - Scott

ok, so how do you alter a OTS then save it with a style on a reg.

Also, is there a way, when I'm playing a style and I have a break in the song, for let's say 2 measures. With my SD-1 I just hit the start button and the style will stop but is prepared for starting as soon as a chord is played, how do you set up the Tyros to do the same thing?

I am also having trouble setting up registrations on Tyros. I read posts on this forum and thanks to its members I have learned a lot from it. When I set the keyboard up to activate an Intro and fill up with an assigned pedal it doesnt recall everything even after saving to user memory. Does anybody know if its possible to step through style variations with OTS as registrations, any help would be very much appreciated
Thanks, Fred.

Frank,
To stop the style and have it immediately ready to resume, just hit the Sync Start button. The style will resume when you hit a note in the Chord section.
To stop everything except the drums, press any three adjacent notes in the Chord section (Fingered Mode only). When you want the rest of the "band" to chime back in, play a chord.
To alter an OTS, set up everything you want to save, press the Memory button, select the parameters to be saved, then press the OTS button to which you want to save.
Then you MUST put the Style into User Memory, before you change to a different style, or your saved OTS will be gone forever!
To do this, press the Recorder button, select style, page over, then Save. You can save to User Memory or Floppy.
All these tips and more are on the PSR Tutorial page.
Good luck.

OK,

I think it worked, basically I need to set-up the OTS the way I want it, then I save it and it goes to a user style area.

Then I must pick that style and then save it to a Reg.

OK next question,

I tried to set my volume pedal so it will controll just the right hand, which seems very easy but doesn't work, does it have to be a yamaha pedal? The pedal I'm using with my SD-1 won't work with the Yamaha

thanks

Not sure about that one. There is a place to reverse the polarity under the Controllers screen. That may be the problem.
I used my Yamaha volume pedal on X1, so it should work the other way also.
