Hey Scott!
What are you up to!
You're such a contributor to this forum, but you've been very quiet lately!
Getting to know the ins and outs of the Tyros?

Could it be because we have been talking too much about politics and war?

Hi Roy (and all). Thanks for your concern. I was out of town last week and been busy catching up on things back home here the last few days, so just haven't found time to post, though I do check (and read) the forum several times a day.

In addition, I've been spending time updating my song repetoire material, working on new songs, and tweaking & updating my set list. The great thing about the Yamaha MusicFinder database is that it allows you to store, organize, and view your entire song repetoire in so many ways (by genre, decade, style, playing proficiency, gig type, or whatever). With Michael Bedesem's MusicFinder View: http://www.svpworld.com/util_mfdview.htm

or Fabien's Music Finder Editor: http://perso.wanadoo.fr/fjm/english/psr2000.htm

you can conveniently enter, view, and edit the Music Finder database on your PC.

You can then print out your custom Music Finder song list: great for passing out to the audience and clients.

Scott

Hi Terry and others,
I am here as well, just busy preparing myself for the May event in Belo Horizonte...and you know how those darn Bossas are difficult to learn...
As soon as I feel ready, I will post a song that hopefully will have Terry's socks rolling up and down like they never did before.

Andrea,
I look forward to the sock rolling tune you have planned for me.

Scott,
When you're out of town, have the decency to at least lend your Tyros to us (or me for that matter.. )

Hi Jonas (KN_Fan):
I was out of town, but I made sure to take the Tyros along WITH me. - Scott

As you may recall, my show specialty is classic pop (typically songs which endure the test of time (20+ years). One of the principal jobs for us as entertainer-musicians is to present songs which capture the current taste & mood of our listening audience(s).

With the ever increasing uncertainty (terrorism & the likely war in Iraq), I think our audiences are looking even more to us to provide music to free them from their worries, as well delivering songs which can offer some reasurrance that things are going to be alright.

In addition to adding more light hearted material such as: Cole Porter's classic lyrical wit in his song 'Let's Misbehave (1928)', and the humours satire of Johnny
Mercer's: 'I'm An Old Cowhand'(1936), I've also added Cole Porter's : 'Don't Fence Me In'(1944) which imho is a terrific tribute to the predcious freedom we still enjoy. I've also updated the lyrics to the Beatles song: 'Yesterday' to reflect how many of us feel post 9/11. Other songs which I seem to get requested more for now include: 'Stand By Me', and 'You've Got a Friend'.

Let's Misbehave (lyrics):
http://www.thepeaches.com/music/composers/cole/LetsMisbehave.txt

I'm an Old Cowhand (lyrics): http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/SongUnid/0AF94ACA6D7128AE48256AFE00284FB8

Don't Fence Me In (lyrics): http://www.kcmetro.cc.mo.us/pennvalley/biology/lewis/crosby/DontFence.html

Yesterday (my revised lyrics):

Yesterday all our troubles seemed so far away
Now it looks as though they're here to stay
oh I believe in yesterday

Suddenly life is not the way it used to be
There's a shadow hanging over me
oh I believe in yeterday

Why it had to change I don't know who can explain
Sadly something's wrong
now I long for yesterday

Yesterday life was such an easy game to play
now I need a place to hide away
oh I believe in yesterday.

- Scott

And speaking of UD's "spin" on a tune, I've often wondered how much you "live" performers change lyrics around---i.e., for special effect, shock, humor, to see who's listening, or whatever.

Spin..... 'I did it My Way'
or ...... 'I did it Nine Ways'
or....... 'I did it Side-Ways'

.... just to see if anyone's listening
