Have the E50/60 hit the streets yet?

since we are on the subject again...
i still didn t find out for sure if the sounds are the same in e80 and e60. i hope they are. i hope the only difference between the two is the number of them.

Looking on the various Roland sites the E60 and E80 are as follow:

E60 has 512 mbit wave rom, it has over 1000 panel tones and 32 drum kits and over 120 styles

E80 has 1 gbit wave rom, it has over 1100 panel tones and 54 drum kits and over 350 styles

My local music shop tells me the sounds are the same in the E60 but not as many and also far less styles in there. The E80 probably utilises sounds for styles missing in the E60 so the extra styles this has will probably not be compatable with the E60 otherwise everyone would buy an E60 instead?
Question is are the extra 100 or so panel tones, 22 drum kits and 200+ styles in the E80 worth the extra money over the E60?
Reading the review that Abacus gave on the E80 on another thread you may all be better waiting to hear these for yourselves.

I checked both E-80 and E-60 at Frankfurt Musik Messe and I can say that the difference in sound quality is easily appreciable (even if not so big, especially for some specific sounds that should be exactly same).
There are some other differences that should be considered, as the multiple MFX, the vocal input (with effects and harmonizer) and the powerful on board amplification system that E-80 has.
Up to you if it is worth the difference in price.

o3bor, now, since there are no e60 demo available (unless they posted them today...) how do you think e60 sounds compare with psr3000? i got the chance to play psr3000 for about one hour two weeks ago, and i still have it fresh in my mind.
can you please appreciate that?
and more, how about "basic" sounds of e60 (pianos, guitars, drums, basses)? are they at least satisfactory? how would you rate them compared with exr series sounds?

i'd be disappointed if e60 would be closer to exr7 than to g70... i like very much the features, guitar mode and make up tools, but if sounds are just exr's level, i'd be disappointed indeed.

Adimatis, the basic sounds that you mention are very close to E-80 quality and much better than EXR series.
Also the other sounds are, in general, more in the G-70/E-80 area than in EXR.

I don't want to make comparison with PSR-3000 since basically I prefer Roland sounds against Yamaha, so my opinion cannot be unbiased.

The E60 as far as I am aware has the same sound engine as the E80, but has less on it.

As an addition, I would like to add that I play a Wersi OAS instrument with OAS 6, (Shortly to be upgraded to OAS 7) and none of the other manufactures new instruments would cause me to change, therefore I have no axe to grind with any of them.

I read the specs again and would like to withdraw part of my criticism. . The E60 will have a PCMCIA card which will support a USB drive.

why considering e50, since e60 is not much more expensive and gives you 76 keys?
or you prefer compact (lighter)?

and about usb, is just too bad it does not work with usb flash drives. so, a pcmcia card adapter is needed, for memory stick for instance. but are you sure it would also make it for a usb drive?

I would definitely consider an E60.
