For those who own G-70, have you tried the converted Tyros styles in it? How do they sound on the G-70? I´m a little insecure to buy the G-70 if those great Latin styles found on Yamaha arranjers don´t come close. Now with the new SRG-01 card installed and the latest Software Version 2 can the G-70 compete with Korg and yammy top arranjers? Any comments is well appreciated. Telmo.

Get yourself a Tyros 2 as it plays the G70 styles very well when converted, you'd have the best of both worlds then

Hi Telmo,
I think the Tyros megavoices may not convert too well to another keyboard.
If you like the Tyros styles, why would you consider the G70?

best wishes
Rikki

Hi Baluan I'm interested in those G-70 styles, but would they work on my Ty2?
How about the pa1x styles? Has anyone been able to convert these to Tyros format? I'm mostly interested in the latin styles.
My email is : mixtli48@hotmail.com

Thanks!

On last saturday I heared a very good musician playing a G70. He tolled me he was a musicteacher but sometimes he played at weddings. He played the G70-styles but he used the Mart Weeho-styles and other userstyles too.
He said in his studio he has a Tyros2 because he has some students having a Tyros.
He let me hear some Tyrosstyles converted to G70 and said they sound on a G70 even better than on the Tyros2 itself.

The Korg PA, Technics KN7000 and Ketron SD1 styles don't sound very good when converted.
I got loads of other manufacturers styles when I purchased my T2 and got the G70 ones off the net. The G70 ones along with some Tyros 1 styles and PSR 9000 are the only ones I've found to be of use.

Craig, you are right..although when I converted Technics styles, and Korg, to the Roland G1000, they play fine..When I converted the Tyros2 styles to the G1000 they also played fine...except a couple guitar patches[tones]..I had to reduce the velocity by 50%..Maybe they used the SA sounds and needed to be played by the Tyros2[I doubt it though]..

I have found that many converted styles can be adapted to keep my "Old" board fresh enough for me..

The same styles I converted ,that play well in the G1000, did not fair as well in the PSR2100..

The Solton/Ketron styles are hit and miss...Styles that use the guitar[strums etc] do not work well..

My go to styles are pretty much Roland styles[especially the G70 conversions..they work great]..I also use a few Yamaha styles[PSR 9000 and a couple Tyros2...I also like the older Technics KN2000 styles[although they lack the extra variations]..
I also use some Korg i30 styles[mostly dance oriented styles]..

Hi Rikki
Actually, I own the PSR-3000 which I love the styles. My only disappointment is the key feel. The key action on the PSR-3000 IMHO is the weak factor on this fine arranjer. In another town, 18 hours far by car(if I drive over there), there is a music store selling an used G-70 and they offered me a deal with my PSR3000 being part of the download payment.I'm just wondering if those who have the G-70 are pleased with its styles and also if the Yammy Styles could sound somehow acceptable played in the G-70. And what about the other features like Sequencer, vocal harmonist and user friendly interface now with all the upgrades for the G-70? Thanks in advance. Telmo.

Hi Donny,

Thanks a lot for sending me G-70 styles.
I have downloaded all. I don't know whether they are different with G-70 styles which I downloaded from other site or not. I will try with my PSR-3000.

Kind regards,

For serious talk about the G70 go to http://www.selskabsmusikeren.dk/
This is the best place for G70-players and you will find there lots of information.

Has anyone been able to convert the pa1x styles
to Ty/PSR format? or is there a pa1x owner who
can provide us with a copy of the styles? Hopefully one of us knows how to convert them. Right baluan ;-).

Hi Telmo,
if you really luv your psr3000 keyboard styles, you may be safer sticking with what you've got. They probably won't sound the same in a G70. A converted is never identical to the original. They can be tweaked so that they sound good, but that can take time.
I'm not knocking the G70 , I haven't heard one, it's quite possible you may even prefer g70 styles to psr styles. Everyone has their own preferences.
I've owned Roland, Yamaha, Technics , Korg keyboards in the past & currently I'm a Ketron owner . To me the styles & sounds are somehow different in all of them.

There is always the option of adding a controller keyboard to the psr, but that can get messy especially if you want it for stage performance.
My setup is only for home use. I sometimes midi my 76 note Ketron to my Yamaha digital piano, because I like the weighted keys when I play in pianist mode.
Hard part was trying to position it properly so that I could hit the variation buttons etc on the ketron. It was too heavy to place on top of my Clavinova, so I had to place it to the side. That problem is now taken care of, since adding a 13 note pedal switch board. I can change variations etc that way. ( Thanks to Don M who sold me his pedalboard).

best wishes
rikki

Hi,

I've converted several styles from other brands to Pa1X and they never sounded good unless I made a lot of tweaking. In the first moment maybe you got the impression that can work, but later on, just playing it you discover problems to address.

Some friends of mine told me the same while converting to Tyros, G70, whatever: a style written for another model has to be reworked to sound good.

Just my experience.

Regards.
