Is it possible to connect a microphone to the PSR3000 and then connect the PSR to a sound card so that midi and voice can be recorded in a computer as MP3.
The midi would be songs downloaded from the internet and used as backing.
I have an external Sound Blaster Audigy2NX
sound card.

Essentially, the answer is no. However, there is a workaround that will provide you with great recordings. Merely load the midi backing tracks into your keyboard, then record the entire song as a .WAV file using Acid Pro, or any of the other recording programs. After recording, tweeking and polishing the song, convert it to an MP3. Nothing to it!

Yes. assuming of course that you meant sending both your vocals & midi song's audio playback out thru your PSR3000's L/R audio outputs into your computer's soundcard audio input(s).

An amazingly powerfully featured for the price ($49) software program for recording and converting your PSR3000 performances to MP3/CD is PG Music's: PowerTracks Pro .

Because this is a 'multi-track' audio recording program, for better recording control, I suggest recording your midi backing tracks and vocals in separate takes (and on separate tracks), to allow the ability for post mixing.

In addition to audio recording, PowerTrack Audio Pro 10 also supports midi editing, so if you needed to edit the midi backing track, instead of simply playing back the midi backing track thru the PSR3000's midi player, you could instead load the midi file into PowerTracks Pro Audio, and simply utilize the PSR3000 as a sound module only, affording far more midi file editing ease. In addition PowerTracks provides more flexibility and power at mixdown CD or MP3. $49, what a deal !

The way Ken's question was worded it appeared as if he wished to record a midi file on his PC, while at the same time recording an audio (.wav, etc.) file by plugging his mic into the keyboard and firing the vocals through the midi connection between the keyboard and PC's sound card. This, to my knowledge, is not possible because of the descrepencies in format. Power-Tracks is a great program, but unless something has drastically changed, it cannot simultaneously record a midi and .wav file.

Would it be possible to put what comes out of the speakers or headphones through to the computer perhaps using line in and line out.

Yes,

Just connect the keyboard's stereo output jacks to the computer's 1/8-inch, stereo, line-in jack on the sound card. You'll need an adapter cable to do this, which can be purchased at Radio Shack. Then double click the small speaker icon at the lower right corner of your computer's screen, click options, properties, OK, then select Line-In by placing a checkmark in the small box beneath the slider.

This will send the signal to the computer, however, you'll need some recording software to do the recording. Go to the link at the above post and you'll find details and links to recording software.

Thank you Gary I am up and running.
At present I am using Roxio Easy to do the recording which is working well.

I hope to inflict you all with some singing in the future although recordings have shown I will need to improve.
