I have to at least TRY it. GC was giving 15 month SAC financing, so I have to listen to the beast in stereo. I'll let you know if there are cancellation problems from the close placement.

I'll test them out on Wednesday & Thursday and report my findings after work. Even if I love it, I doubt that I'd set them both up for these weekday jobs ... it's just overkill. It sounds so good the way it is...

I don't want to make MORE work for myself just for a little stereo chorus effect on my Rhodes....then again, the harmony voices are panned L&R....and the drums are panned wiiiiiiiiide....... aw rats .... I'm gonna wind up taking them everywhere, aren't I?

I will use Ch1 on each stack, just for symetry. It'll be fun to test this out tomorrow.

Imagine wearing 7' tall headphones and listing to all your favorite instruments being played "live" in your head !

2 subs, or NOT 2 subs? That is the question!

Yes, I had 2 for my single tower, and this just spread the love around perfectly. The added distance made a smooth bottom that seems to really fill the room. (Heck - ONE tower fills THIS room !)

The experiment went very well, (as expected) but I doubt that I will use the twin towers (no disrespect intended) in my weekday club rooms. It's just not neccesary, and takes more time to set up, tear down, uses more floor space etc ....

I can't wait to do a DJ job - they should really shine in that application. The biggest kick from the added spread was in my vocal harmonies. When I engage the Digitech .... WOOOOOOSH ! 5 of me - everywhere around the room. It's awesome. (I knew it would be)

I've been thinking of the benifits vs. cost/time and all that and here's my summary:

1) Sound quality is superior to ANY system I've had so far. This includes the Mackies, EV's, JBL's ... ALL of them. Better progection, better looking, better transporting.

2) Design is easier to fill an odd shaped room. Much better low volume coverage than any other system out there. Higher volume situations also shine - better dispersion. No "loud" spots. It's almost the same level all over the room. Freaky, but true.

3) Quick, neat setup. No speaker wires to tangle up. No racks of heavy amps to stack. No odd shaped (eon) boxes to TRY to stack in the car, or on a dolly. Both towers, Bass bins, kb, stand and laptop all fit on my Rock n' Roller (medium size) cart. One trip from the car does it !

4) Price: Hmmmmmm ... this one is personal. I get RAVE reviews from clients and patrons. I get smooth, clear sound that covers any room and any volume level. I get a high tech, cutting egde visual addition to my shows. I have people sitting right in front of me now, that would never have done so in the past. (Maybe my change of deoderant has someting to do with that too...)

5) Bottom line: It's a definate winner across the board, and I am sure you'll see these popping up on stages all over. When you factor in all the benefits, the cost is very well justifyed.

You can say that "pretty good" is OK for your sound, or you can spend a little more and get "Great" instead. Do the math and you'll find that the $$ is not that far out of reach for all you get.

a)750 watts of power - $600 (approx)
b)internal crossoxer/EQ - $400 (low side)
c)tri-amped speakers/bins - $1200
d)covers - $100
e)wires - $75
d)"back strain" - "groin injury" - ?$?$?$?$
_____________________ add it up!
$2375 (approx) for something that's:

LARGER
HEAVIER
BULKIER
LESS EFFICIENT ......

See a pattern here?
It's an EZ decision once you look at the whole picture. If all you need is casual gear ... then the old way of thinking is fine, but this is the wave of the future, and the advantages are well worth the investment. Actually, the SAVINGS are why I did it!
SAVES time (set up)
SAVES aching backs
SAVES space
SAVES hearing

OK, OK ...... I know you're tired of hearing this .... go hear the system for your self. ON YOUR STAGE ! Buy one, try it and then make a choice. It was a definate "no brainer" for me as soon as I turned it on.

Good luck everybody. (Like JBL, Mackie, EV etc ....... )

DNJ: Please get rid of that long URL so we don't have to scroll back & forth to read this (edit: thanks for doing that!).

UD: Thanks for the report. Knew the stereo thing would be better if a little more inconvenient (but hey - 1500 watts in stereo is nothing to sneeze at!). At $5k+ though for a stereo PA, that's a lotta light lunches but it's not out of line for the wattage. Damn sure would like to hear it.

There are MANY, many systems that sound great, but the design of this new PAS is such that the way it fills a room is better. My stage gear at work now sounds like a studio mix at home. Crystal clear, whisper quiet and really attractive!
The Digitech rocks !

Uncle Dave...I am trying out my Bose tomorrow night.....first semi gig in years. I have the Digitech VR. Do you have any tips for the mic not picking up KB sounds.....or do you think that it is just doing it more in my practice room at home?

I'm not impressed at all. With a rig like Dave is talking even donald duck would sound great. That's like cheating on a math test in school.
Well Dave needs it! Ya'll know I've been saying he can't carry a tune in a bucket for 2 years now.

I spent a month in New Orleans one weekend. What a wacky town. Isn't the drinking age about 11??????? And what's UP with all the shoe stores on Canal street ????
Sheeeesh!

I was there as a senior in HS with my jazz band. We had won a National Catholic Educators thingee and as a 19 yr old in that town ..... lemme tell ya...

The funnyest part was the NCE convention was also that same weekend, so there were 2000 nuns and priests roaming Bourbon Street .... what a sight! The strip joints and the clergy ! Quite a memory for an impressionable teen !

Not braggin just want to say I wouldn't let my kids do what I did at 16. I had my Uncle's draft card, no pictures on them then and I was playing in a club on the weekends owned by Carlos Marcello the Godfather of that area at that time and his baby brother Pasquale ran the place.

Of course a few years earlier with my motor bike at 12 and 13 I was delivering liquor in neighborhoods where many people wouldn go at night. I never had a lick of trouble.

Things were different then. Any body could get into anybody else's home because we all had skeleton keys. Remember that?

Dang I'm old!
