Hi everyone! Just wanted to let you all know that I became a father today at 9:57am eastern time. My wife and I had our first child. She was a big one too! She weighed 8lbs 1 ounce, and was 20 5/8 inches, with a FULL head of hair too (lot's of it!) Well I'm back off to the hospital.. Had to stop by the house for a few things...

Congratulation

it's the greatest event ever in someone's life, better than the best arranger you can get your hands on, only this one in the beginning will only plays the highest octave, very sharp notes mostly at night.
Congratulations again.

..... as father to a son and daughter, I've long said "every father wants a son, but every father NEEDS a daughter" .... but as Perry Como sang many years ago, when you're the father of boys, you worry, but when you're the father of girls, you do more than that you pray.....
... the only feeling that is greater is when she presents you with a GRANDCHILD ... I know, I'm there ....
the VERY best to you, mom and baby....
and don't worry .... you'll get plenty of forum time in the wee hours....
t.
PS Uncle Dave .... thanks for rekindling those father/daughter dance memories ..the BEST .... one of the great hilites: taking my daughter and 4 of her friends to Nassau Coliseum (NY) to see DURAN-DURAN ... as the commercial says "PRICELESS" ......

Congradulations,
I have a 20 year old daughter and I have loved every event and day of her life with us. There is a song "Butterfly Kisses" by Bob Carlisle. This song is the song I want to dance to with my daughter when she gets married some day. The words sum up all the years of her life with her daddy!
Give your new baby a big hug from all your friends on the arranger forum.

Congrats Squeak. This is truly one of the blessed days of your life. Enjoy it my friend. My "baby" daughter just turned 17 and my stepdaughter just gave birth as well so I am a new grandpa again to a beautiful baby girl as of this past Monday. Ain't it grand ??

Daughters !!
I tucked my 8 yr old into bed after our wonderful time at the father/daughter dance, and then sat down at the computer to say goodnight to you all, when the phone rang.
It was my 16 yr old telling me that they were in a car accident, comming home from a dinner date. Everyone is fine, and it looks like it was not her boyfriends fault, but my heart is STILL racing! Talk about emotion!
This is what it's like, welcome to the show - it gets more and more complicated each day. I now live with 4 women and a Shi'Tsu, and Life is sure full of .....................well, I'll let you find that out for yourself. You're on your way ! G'night, Daddy !

Squeak,
congratulations and thank you for sharing your emotions with us.
It's really one of the peaks of life; as soon as I reach puberty I will probably have a son myself, the way Distarry did.
(Right now I feel like I have become an uncle.....)
Oops.......wasn't there an Uncle already on this board?
Dave, glad that everything is fine with your daughter.
Life is great and it's all about LOVE!
Keep loving!

Congratulations SQUEAK and WIFE!!

What a wonderful event! She is a BIG girl! Hope your wife and baby are doing fine and YOU TOO!

I have two girls. They are adults now but the youngest one was 8 pounds 10 ounces when she was born! She is only 5ft 2inches tall now! They are my best friends as adults and were my best little buddies when they were growing up. Enjoy her child years they go so quickly! Mine are 23 and 28 years old now! Seems like just yesterday they were babies!

So happy for the three of you!

Sending lots of love,

-Linda

Thank you everyone for your kind words.. My wife and I are extremely happy to be parents.. However, after being in that delivery room, I don't think I ever want to see my wife in that much pain again... My hats off to ANY woman who has a child. We guys sure have it easy. We just help make them and (us good ones) help take care of them... The doctor said she was a totally healthy baby.. They can't find anything wrong with her. They even told us she scored a 10 on the newborn test (which is the highest!) She took to me from the start too. They brought her in last night to be fed at 2:00am, when she started crying, I picked her up, and not a sound from her.. She just stared at me with those big beautiful brown eyes and fell asleep... We've named her Katelyn Rose Provost. I gave her Rose after my mother. Katelyn, because my wife and I both adore that name... Well I'll keep you all posted.. I had to come home this morning because the hospital made me go home a rest. I've gotten 1 hour of sleep since my wife went into labor in the early evening of the 14th.. We almost had her on valentines day... Talk to everyone soon...

WOW!!! Congratulations Squeak! What a wonderful miracle: a new life on this earth!

First of all, I pray that your family has a prosperous, successful future spiritually and physically and that you grow together as each day progresses! I hope that you all share the most precious, memorable experiences together that you can look back on and remember! It is so amazing to actually hear that a new life has been born into this world, that is the biggest miracle in the entire universe: a new life!

I know that you and your wife will make great parents and raise a wonderful family! Families are the most precious things in this world, they know each other in a way no other human can share, they share the most special memories with each other, they talk and share their feelings freely, and live for each other and promise that they will always be there forever! I also pray that your wife makes a speedy recovery and that your child has a promising future full of good health! My family and I have always discussed how strong women are, because they have to carry a heavy baby around for 9 months and then, on top of that, give birth and than devote her entire life to her child! My Mom has been there for me ever since day one and has devoted her entire life to me and my brothers! I am the way I am because she provided me with love and a peaceful atmosphere here at home!

Well, congratulations to you! I also want to congratulate Larry as well for becoming a new father just recently, 3 months ago! I also wish you and your family a prosperous, successful future spiritually and physically! Wow! Now we have two new Dads on this forum!

Life is full of miracles...Enjoy your new family and have fun spending precious time with them,
Ryan

PS: Uncle Dave, sorry for the bad news. I am glad that everything ended up ok and that your daughter is safe. There is nothing worse than the news that something bad may have happened to your family member...again, I am glad that your family is safe at home.

Congratulations Squeak on your first born, and a daughter at that.
Personally, I would also like to have a daughter. My family has all sons, all my cousins are boys. Now my cousins, getting married are only producing girls. I wonder if they can do it intentionally. Who knows, but its happening, and they are seeming to produce daughters. I really like that as now I have several nieces, filling in the gap of sisters that I never had.
May you enjoy your daughter's love and she yours.
God Bless.

Well the wife and I are back home and settled in with the baby... She and the baby are doing fine.... Upon checkout from the hospital the doctors told us they couldn't find anything wrong with the baby and that she is perfectly healthy... The doctor that delivered her told me that in her 30+ years in the field she has never seen a child that had as much hair as ours.. She came out needing a haircut! I tell ya she was the cutest baby in the nursery too.. When I went down to the window to look at her, there was a crowd already there looking at the newborns, and everyone was talking about our little girl and how cute she was. All the other newborns were sleeping, but ours always had her eyes wide open and was full of movement... She looked so cute with the pink bow they put in her hair... Even nurses not assigned to our room were coming in to see her because everyone was talking about how cute she was... I'm very happy being a father. I know my time on the forum and with my keyboard will be limited, but that really doesn't bother me. I'm a father now and I have a wife and daughter to provide for, so that's where I want to focus all of my time and attention. I'm going to try and post a pic of her on my picture page at MSN.. When it's up I'll notify the forum.. Well talk to everyone when I can....

My wife once decribed the pain to me and enlightened me with a way to experience it..
1. Grab your upper lip firmly
2. Pull it up over your forehead.

Yeah...that about does it.

Congrats and best wishes. we HAD a saying in Ireland when told of a Birth in a family --we would say " may she be the mother of a Bishop" However since the most famous Bishop in Ireland ran off with a lady from the states (I think) we tend not to say it anymore!!!!! I recall my first child he is now 31 yrs old We had 3 boys and took a rest we then had alot more. No body showed me how to parent so gradually the children taught me. Best wishes Pierce in Ireland
