Hi all,

I just did my first quick live recording on a Tyros 2(HD). It's my interpretation of Corcovado. I used style Bossa Nova with ConcertGutiar in the right hand(lead). I did not use the harmony button feature. It was recorded as a .wav file in the Ty2. I then converted it to an mp3(192 kbs) using itunes. No other outside effects, intrumentation or editing was used.

Hope you enjoy!

Beautiful!
My only suggestion would be to try to mute the (annoying) piano track of the style.
The rest is first class and I especially love your harmonic substitutions.

This is really good stuff ... I LOVE the Ty2 guitars ... I closed my eyes and thought a real guitar was playing ...
Your playing and technique are excellent ...
I agree with Dreamer, though, about the piano ... distracting and unnecessary ... One other note, I thought the ending came a little abruptly ...
Was that done in one take, or did you do the back and then add the solo guitar ...
I would love to hear more of your work ...

Thanks for all of your kind comments. I am grateful that you all took the time to listen.

Tony, I did it in one take just played live if I were doing the song on a job.

I had two goals in mind. 1. I wanted to see if I could actually execute/record a song using the HD recorder function. 2. I wanted to listen to the .wav file after it was rendered to see if it would sonically hold up to my ears. So now I have a basic idea of the quality and functionality of recording on the Ty2.

Thanks again!

Chris

Chris,
I played pro guitar for many years and I thought I was listening to you playing a guitar with Tyros2 backing. I listened to all the fills and voicing of the chords. My thought- - this guy plays good guitar.

Nice job Chris, John c.

You may be interested to know that when the new styles and voices were added in the Tyros 2, they were played by real musicians, the guitar parts by a guitarist using a Midi Pick Up, the drum parts by a drummer playing a Midi drum pad set, etc, and this is the reason they sound so real.
The only limitation is the Yamaha sound system, which tends to compress the sounds a bit, thus giving more of a CD sound rather than a true live feel.
However even with all this, you still have to be able to play to create an individual sound.

Bill true assessment.....that was the only thing that still bothers me about the Yamaha PSR/Tyros arranger sound even though I have extensively tweaked the Eq's & Efx when I performed with a Yamaha KB...I cant explain it....not that its bad....
just compressed vs a real live sound.

Hi Mikey,

The sound source for my originals came from a Moitf ES6. I used an external sequencer and played the parts seperately. I then mixed/recorded it down to stereo on a Roland VS-840.

Take care,

Chris
