I am VERY happy. Your GC is clearly the best I've been at, Dan. There are 2 GC's near me, and only one is even close. The sales staff is pitiful here, luckily I know what I want, and I usually wind up demonstrating features to the staff ! I tested the 2000 at your store, and found out that the registratins remembered things mine did not: 1)sustain settings for each side of the split 2)vocal harmony presets (internal & user) 3)harmony triggers (left/chord etc) 4)split points and voice assignments I wasn't able to see the version # with the Db F Ab power up method. Did I forget something? How did you access the version number again? People - all I can say is that you have two GREAT resources here in George Kaye and Dan Oneil - take advantage of their knowledge, and ethics. They are invaluable assets to our on-line community. Thanx again Dan - I'll let you all know if there are any shortcomings in this kb. (you KNOW I will )

It's an interesting thread. Maybe it will allow us to "see" others' situations better.
In Benton, LA., there is a Brookshires (about 3 miles from me, as I live in a subdivision between Benton and Bossier City. Going the other direction, it is 6 miles to Super Walmart, Albertson's, Kroger's and Super 1. All the way over in Shreveport (about 10 miles) you will find Circuit City, Best Buy, etc.
You may remember that Barksdale AFB is in Bossier City, about 12 miles from my house. That is where the President flew to on Sept. 11. I was on the interstate and looked up to see Air Force One coming in for a landing. I though I was hallucinating, but then a little later heard it on the radio.
Shreveport Music keeps lower-end Yamaha keyboards and will order anything. Unfortunately, since they do not order in enough quantity and must charge sales tax, they feel they cannot really compete with internet prices on the keyboards. (And they are right). I would be probably better off buying my keyboards from George or Dan, even though my local store makes zero profit when they sell to me. However, I've been doing business with them for 25 years and the owner is a friend. They are always there if I need something quickly or in an emergency. S. Music does all the backline rental for several of the casinos here and they have every conceivable piece of p.a. gear--just not many arrangers. There is an excellent service shop in Shreveport, and they have always been great about getting the pros' equipment out in a timely manner.
Dallas, TX., is about 150 miles from here, and a couple of stores there usually carry the bigger Yamahas, Rolands and Korgs. One dealer carried all the Solton's, including X1, but last year decided to concentrate on pianos and synths and no longer stocks them. He will order them if needed.
The important thing is, the Country Club golf course adjoins my back yard, and there is a nice Trophy Bass lake almost across the street. It is at least 6 miles to a four-lane highway! Life is good. DonM
