![]() WAVESHAPE This control adjusts the shape of the SAW / TRIANGLE waveform, similar to the pulse width control for the PULSE waveform. The waveform moves from a sawtooth shape at a value of 0, to a triangle wave at a setting of 63. The DCO waveshape window (see below) will show a graphical representation of the current shape. PW This control sets the relative pulse width or duty cycle of the PULSE waveform. This slider ranges from 0 to 63. A setting of 31 produces a perfect square wave, while larger values provide a wider pulse, and lower values produce a thinner pulse. See the DCO waveshape window (see below right) for a graphical representation of the waveform.
LFO 2 => PULSE WIDTH Sets the amount by which LFO 2 modulates the pulse width of the DCO's pulse wave. Value ranges from -63 up to +63. Negative values mean that LFO 2 is phase-shifted by 180 degrees before being applied. WAVEFORM
PULSE Switches this DCO's pulse waveform output on or off. SYNC (DCO 1 only) This control sets the synchronization mode of DCO 1 to DCO 2. In all sync modes the start of the waveform cycle of DCO 1 is controlled by the DCO 2 waveform, in varying degrees. Please note that sync will still occur if none of the DCO 2 waveforms are enabled! DETUNE (DCO 2 only)
Sets the relative pitch offset of DCO 2.
F.M. Is an acronym for Frequency Modulation. In the Matrix-1000 context this means modulation of the VCF cutoff frequency by the combined outputs of DCO 1. Add a whiff of resonance for some clangerous, ring modulator-like sounds. Value ranges from 0 to 63. Resonance aka Filter Emphasis. Sets the height of the resonant peak of the filter cutoff frequency. This peak over-emphasizes frequencies at the cutoff frequency. Increase this and the filter will begin to oscillate; at the maximum value of 63 it will self-oscillate, producing a pure sine wave output. Envelope 1 => Frequency Sets the amount by which Envelope 1 influences (modulates) the cutoff frequency. Ranges from -63 to 63, negative values result in an envelope with reversed polarity Aftertouch => Frequency Sets the amount by which Aftertouch modulates the filter cutoff. Ranges from -63 to 63. Envelope 1 => FM Level Sets the amount by which Envelope 3 governs the filter FM. Ranges from -63 to 63, negative values yield a reversed polarity envelope. Aftertouch => FM Level Use this to control the amount of filter FM with Aftertouch messages. Ranges from -63 to 63. Pitch Bend Check this to let the filter cutoff respond to pitch bend messages ie your bender, wheel or joystick. Can be quite useful. Vibrato Check this box to modulate the cutoff frequency using the 'global' Vibrato LFO, applied using Lever 2, any old mod wheel or Midi CC # 1 . Portamento Check this to modulate the filter cutoff frequency with the signal coming from the Portamento or Lag Generator. Key Tracking Check this box to let the filter cutoff respond to the keys you play. Higher notes result in a more 'open' filter and vice versa - quite handy when you are using the VCF as a (self-)oscillator.
VCA 1 Level This control sets the level of VCA 1. This should be set quite high in order to allow any sound to be heard. If you don't hear anything when you play a note, check this value. Ranges from 0 to 63. Velocity => VCA 1 This slider controls the amount by which incoming Velocity messages influence the level of VCA 1. Useful if you want Midi control over note volumes. Values range from -63 to +63.
Envelope 2 => VCA 2
This slider sets the amount of Envelope 2 over VCA 2. Can be used to provide amplitude dynamics to your sound. Frequency This slider control sets the initial frequency of the LFO. Values can range from 0 to 63. Amplitude This control sets the initial amplitude or signal amount of the LFO. Values range from 0 to 63. Retrigger Sets the point in the wave cycle at which the LFO will start when it is triggered. Useful when the absolute level of the LFO wave determines a distinctive sound parameter like the VCF Cutoff Frequency. Values range from 0 to 31. Waveform Used to select the waveform of the LFO. When 'Sampled' is selected as waveform, the LFO will sample the Sampled Modulation Source at the start of each wave cycle, like a Sample & Hold circuit. 'Random' offers the same but with random variation and no control over the input.
Trigger Mode
Run Free no syncing or triggering of any kind, LFO runs independently Portamento Check this to enable a portamento or lag 'smoothing' of the LFO signal. Can be used for instance to turn the triangle into a sine-like wave. Aftertouch => Frequency (LFO 1 only) Adjusts the amount by which Aftertouch messages control the speed of LFO 1. Key Tracking => Frequency (LFO 2 only) Used to control the speed of LFO 2 by the notes you play. Useful to provide different amounts of vibrato for low and high notes. Ramp 1/2 => Amplitude Sets the amount of amplitude modulation by Ramp generator 1 or 2. Used to provide gradually increasing or decreasing LFO effects. Sampled Modulation Source When the 'Sampled' wave form is selected, the module listed here is used as the source to sample from. |
