Whenever I use the transpose while recording, I make sure I set the Transpose Assign to "keyboard".

Press "Direct Access", then press the minus (-) button on the panel Transpose buttons.

At the opening screen, you can set it to Keyboard.

I generally leave the Tyros4 at that setting all the time.
