The Tyros drawbars eats polyphony just like PSR9000.

What doesn't? That's what polyphony is there for all 128 notes of it, to be eaten by something. The better the sound the more poly it gobbles, it's a direct inverse proportion.

good point.., but of course more is always better... Can't please everyone though.. Even if Yamaha made arrangers with 350-400 poly, someone will some how manage to use it up and complain...

This could present problems though for organists who want to use the keyboard with accompaniment or MIDI files backing. The question is how much polyphony drain are we talking about when using the drawbars? The 9000 Pro has the same polyphony as the Tyros and it's owner's manual recommends adding an XG expansion card for backing tracks if you intend to use the virtual drawbar organ.

Each tyros voice has the potential of using up to 8 waveform layers or "elements". Using the custom voice editing software, its possible therefore to layer a max of 8 element waveforms, each with filtering, envelopes etc. This would result in a voice with just 16 note polyphony though! The organs work in the same way, each element being a "drawbar footage".

Others have solved this so a drawbar sound takes one note polyphony per note played and not like Yamaha that every drawbar takes one note polyphony. I don't understand why Yamaha can't do it in the same way.

On press review keyboard n 150 in my country, I read: 91 oscillators separate for
organ flutes
Is this information inexact?

The point is that we are talking about a drawbar organ with 9 different footages each having 7 different level settings. If that would be sampled directly you would need 7exp(9) different samples, which eguals to about 40.35 million ! And there would still be only one sample for all octaves ! No keyboard can have the needed amount of memory for this, not currently anyway. And even if they would have some day, who would like to do the sampling of 40 million samples !

It is possible to have (only) a few samples done in this way. They are called panel (or XG) voices in Yamaha keyboards.
