Well, I have two laptops. One has Windows XP and the other has Windows 2000.
I use the laptop connected to my 3K via USB. If for some reason I turn my 3K off and turn it back on, it also reboots my computer, the one with Windows 2000. This problem doesn't occur if I use the computer with Windows XP. I checked both computers going to Control Panel and looking in different folders and I can't see anything different between the two. I don't think the computer with Windows 2000 should turn off and reboot when I turn my 3K off then back on.
I spoke to our resident 3K Wizard, Gary, and he didn't know why this is happening.
Thanks for any help.

Peter

Peter,

It sounds like there is some glitch with the PC. Therefore, the best advice I can offer is to uninstal the driver, then reinstall the driver following the instructions for Windows 2000 and see if this solves the problem. Be sure to shut the computer down after reinstalling the driver, then reboot before turning on the keyboard. Hopefully, this will work.

Good Luck,

Gary

Hmmm.........

So when you power-cycle the 3K with the W2K laptop connected, do you see the laptop go into Shut-down mode;

and then power cycle, as if the command was issued (rather than just shut off like somebody pulled the power cord, then plugged it back in)?

If so, I wonder if this is an Advanced Power Management (APM) setting? What did you see when you went into the Control Panel and then the Power Options settings on both laptops?

It was the driver. I went to the Yamaha website, downloaded and installed the latest driver and the laptop with Windows 2000 is working fine now. It doesn't shut down and reboot now when I turn off and turn back on the 3K. The older driver is still in the laptop with XP and it works fine. I'll probably update that one too.
Thanks for the respondses.

The hands are slowly healing, most of the blistering from the UV treatmens has began to peel, but there is still a few nasties that remain at the end of one finger. It still keeps splitting open at the lightest touch. Hopefully, this will be remedied in the next few weeks.

Thanks for asking,

Gary
