One of the keys on the lower octave is dead. Any quick fix here other than the repair shop ?

For now I shift my playing to the right which is still doable although feel awkward. Wonder if other PSR3000 had these problems before

Sounds like it could be a touch pad. The rubber fatigues and cracks which causes the carbon knob of that particular note to cock to one side and make that note unresponsive.
They are about $23 from Yamaha,Ca..Part number VU328400 (a 12 note rubber section)
1(888)892-6242 If you are mechanically talented, you can replace this part. If not,
you need a techician to do it. It requires removing the bottom of the keyboard.Larry C.

Larry hit the nail on the head. All keyboard experience this problem over time. This is especially trye when the keys are hammered too hard by folks who previously enjoyed playing the piano. The pad is easy to replace, but if you have little or no electro/mechanical experience take it to the repair shop.
