Any users or comments about this board. Still looking to purchase an arranger. Never had a Ketron before.

Have you considered the Korg PA50. A lot of board for the small outlay. We spent a week with it at the Keyboard Festival UK last month and it's fantasic for it's price.It's basically a PA80 without after touch and no plugin options.
I am thinking of adding a PA50 to my 3K.

Zuki - I have the XD3 which is the modular version of the XD9 as well as a Tyros 1.

It is very similar to the SD1 and you can upgrade it gradually if you wish. Mine is now fitted with the pattern expansion card, the vocal harmoniser card and the orchestral card for additional sampled voices. You can also get the video out card but I 'aint got one as I don't encourage Kareoke.

I really like the unit and sometimes gig out with it and a just a lightweight keyboard controller and leave the Tyros at home.

It has much more of a live sound than the Tyros and I love this when I am gigging anywhere people like to dance to uptempo stuff. You obviously have to try it yourself but I think it knocks spots off the competition in it's price range. Well, the price I paid as I dont know how much you would have to pay. I bought mine from Belgium but I'm in the UK.

There is only one thing I really don't like about it and that is the lack of aftertouch. I have had to program in delayed vibrato into many of the guitar voices and then save them as user voices.

It has a couple of unique features including intelligent arranger functions that mute certain selected accomp parts on the fly under certain criteria that you decide. This gives far more variety in the styles.

I also like the fact that you can change the accomp voices and volume levels to suit you for each style and save them back to the factory presets.

Although I dont use them while gigging I do listen to SMF files on it and these sound better that the Tyros unles I fiddle with the Tyros sonds swapping them for XG ones.

I had several Ketron keyboards, the X1, and 2 SD1s, terrific sounding boards, even now over 4 years old, still sounds Great!! for example, the saxes, choirs (shame on Yamaha for not doing anything in the T2 choirs), Organ sound with leslie etc, the SD1 has better sound, now the acoustic guitars sound dated but, in overall still a great board....downfalls (to my style of live playing) poliphony and dynamic alocation.....is a little slowww to me, aldo not everyone has the same style of playing, perhaps, for many is ok.
I recomend very much Ketron.

Hi Don - I use a Studiologic (Fatar) 161 which is very lightweight. I bought it used for £85 (about $140) and found an old guitar case (square type) for transportation in a friends music shop I used to work in.

The playing action is OK but only just and it is a very robust unit

If I take this and the XD3 along with the Z2200s to a gig I only need a mic, stand and stool which all go in the boot(trunk) of a mini car. Its a long way from a split L100 with 145 Leslie in a van and 3 other blokes to help carry - lol

I also still have a Studiologic 1100 which is 88 note fully weighted kedbed which I like to play the Tyros with (and the XD). I know its the same sound but just playing the Tyros pianos with a better keyboard seems to improve the sound as well as the playing experience - weird innit?

I know you are into the new Midijay but I like the additional arranger features on the XD.

Thanks for the replies, however, I just purchased an EXR7s (my 2nd time). For the money ($769 to my door), I had fun with it - like the usb, 76 keys, easy sequencer, piano, available styles, product support. Besides, someone has to balance out this fourm

Good Choice Don....Its got alot of buttons that are assignable too vs the others.....good luck
