Hello

I'm considering getting a KN2600 to add to my Tyros. All of their styles from KN2000, 3000, 5000, etc are available for this keyboard.

IF these styles could be had in Tyros version and they actually sounded good I'd probably prefer that. All of the Technics styles I ever found sounded very bad. Most have bad clashing sounds and in general sound bad.

Are the newer conversions any good? Does anyone have some I can hear? If so how did you do it.

Thanx
Scott

Scott, go to www.emc-musicsoftware.de/viashop/storefron/start.asp and download the demo version. It will convert one variation only but will give you a good idea of whether or not it would work for you.

Well for some reason that url (which I copied off their site) doesn't work, so just use Google to look up EMC Styleworks and get it that way.

The Technics styles are in general much more difficult to convert
to sound good in most other kb brands, and need a lot of tweaking
before they sound any good.
I think it is the fileformat who are the reason, but I'm not a expert
so it might as well be other reasons.
From others to Technics is much more easy, and also when convert
between most other brands, such as i.e. Yamaha to Ketron etc.

Hi Scott,
if these styles are in kn2600 format, they can't be converted by emc. Emc will convert the original Kn2,3,5 styles.

The only way I think you'd be able to do it would be to create a midifile of the style ie
intro's, endings, fills & the variations and use a program like OMB or Midi2style etc

You could still end up with other problems because kn7 ( not sure about kn24/26) style parts use additional notes ie a guitar chord based the a c chord , may have also have notes like a's, b's included. It's kind of strange, but the kn7 handles it well.

best wishes
Rikki

Scott, My friend who was a skilled musician and knew his PC well, tried to convert the Kn6500 styles into his Yamaha psr740 had very little success.
From the Kn into the PC reworked in Cakewaklk, then to a disk, and into the Yamaha. It can be done but the feel was not there. They sounded OK, but not equal to his yamaha styles.
Having said that, pick a style and we'll both have a go at it. I have both keyboards as you know, and this could be fun.
Take care, John C.
