Is there a program to find duplicated yamaha styles ?

Dear forum members.
I have gathered by the years a lot of yamaha styles which I am using for my yamaha 9000 pro .
My collection is so big , that I am afraid that there are many duplicates on it .
My question is : does anybody knows a program to import yamaha styles for to find duplicates and to have the possibility to delete them ?
Important is that that program can read the typical structure of the extension of the yamaha style [ .sty]
so to find duplicates on base of name , date or size is no solution for I changed the names and date of those styles for my own private collection .
therefore I need a program that read those files specially on base of the typical .sty of yamaha .[ like “bbfinder” for band in a box files ]
Please , who can advice me ?
guillermo

Hi Willem,

What you are looking for is a 'compare'-program that is able to 'look' into files, read real contents and than compare with all other files. If the file is a true copy of another, one of them can be deleted.

Names are often changed, while the contents remain the same.

I do not know a program that can do this yet, but perhaps Denny can help us ?

btw. temps dropped from 33C to 20C within 1 hour tonight.....thanks to the rain.

HELLO ROEL ,
WE HAVE ALSO A THUNDERSTORM BUT THE ELECTRICITY IS STILL THERE SO I WILL TRY TO MAKE AN ANSWER TO THE FORUM.
ROEL, YOU HAVE A BETTER FORMULATION OF MY QUESTION , THEN I HAVE.
THANKS A LOT!
MY QUESTION IN THE SIMPLEST WAY IS :
YOU HAVE 5 STYLE FILES CALLED : A HENRY , B. PETER,C.WILLIAM ,D.YVONNE EN E: ELISABETH.
YOU KNOW THEY ARE ALL YAMAHA FILES.
BUT….YOU GUESS THAT SOME OF THE STYLES ARE THE SAME , SO A DUPLICATE .
I AM LOOKING FOR A PROGRAM WHERE YOU CAN IMPORT HENRY,PETER,WILLIAM YVONNE AND ELISABETH , AND AFTER RESEARCH THE PROGRAM SAYS : STYLE PETER AND STYLE ELISABETH ARE THE SAME !
THAT’S ALL .
HELLO DISTARY ,
PLEASE SEND ME THE WEBPAGE WHERE I CAN DOWNLOAD THAT PROGRAM , WILL YOU ?
GUILLERMO.

Denny, many thanks for the email

Guillermo (Willum) and others:

Here's a direct link to the SVP World "Style Duplicates 1.27" download page: http://www.svpworld.com/util_styledup.htm

Many thanks to Michael Bedesem for writing and sharing what looks to be a great PSR style management utility. He is both a talented programmer and one heck of a generous guy to write & share (for free) so many terrific PSR software utilities. I want to acknowledge him for all the help he gave me by writing his software utility: Chord Assist: http://www.svpworld.com/util_chordassist.htm

Hello everybody ,
special distarry and scottyee,
thanks a lot for all the advices.
I downloaded “style duplicates 1.27 “and it is working perfect .
Many thanks to michel bedesem , you are great !
I was working the whole night , because it was here in holland too hot for sleeping , and in the morning all was fixed !
In the past I gathered all the styles I could get from the www , so I had a collection about 7342 styles .
“style duplicates”” reduced that till 6246 styles.
enough for the rest of my life !
so for me : end of the discussion around my question .
there is only one thing : enjoy the 9000 pro !
guillermo

Willem,

After we had a short chat, I found a program called 'MIDIUTIL 1.0' on the web. This is a great tool to get rid of duplicate midifiles.

It works VERY fast and scans my entire midifolder (30,000 files) in about 5 minutes. Duplicates (in my case 2000) are easy to remove.
