Well, you say "additional" inputs. The Bose power stand has just ONE single 1/4 inch jack. No effects, no presets, no EQ, NO nuthin.
This is the wave of the future ..... actually it's HERE already - mopst things access menues and deep editing by remote only. It's cheaper to put all the goodies in the remote.
I could plug my psr3k into this single input, but I'd have to do everything from the kb, and Yamaha doesn't do it as good as Bose does.
The T1 lets you assign separate EQ and 3 different FX to each channel, provides modeling presets and much more .... scene storage etc....

The T1 makes it a complete system, and I goatta have it that way !

Dave have you used it on a job yet? Is there a big noticeable (to the average person) difference or a more subtle you notice it difference?
Beside the more convenient base I mean.
