I like to thank you al four giving os all your helping.
You guys are the greatest.Thanx.
We all here are a bigg family and i think we musicians are litle differend from other people.
We like to make things better and more comfortable.
And this make me feel good when i can make things better.
I play oriental music pop and others.
i,m from Turkey. We heave many many KB players there.I live in Sweden cold but a nice country. And i know that Americans love Sweden.
ANY WAY.
MY QESTION is that, Can you guys call and e mail the manufacturer Like KORG USA OR JAPAN.and give the enginier of the KOrg Yamaha GEM and others litle info about what we realy want from a KB.
Like my new PA1XPro is a great KB but why only 32 MB of ram???
Why cant we load soun fonts and other big samples like GIGA or Halion files in to it.
32 meg is nothing to day!Or???
even my IRIVER MP3 player has 512 mb of memory.
Please can you help os to tell Korg that we need to load bigger and more sample file standards!
The best KB is the KB that can be optioned!
I like my KB but it can be more funn to make new sounds to play whit.Just think what you can do whit a 64 Mb sound file like GM or XG.
There is sample cd,s & giga sounds GM 500 mb.
Just think what can heapen when you play a MIDI song whit that???!!!
Please you are our eyes ears and can do more !
Help os to make nois.
TNX.

Well, the reason is simple - COST.
But I don't understand why they didn't make the amount of RAM optional. With 512MB RAM chips around (and being pretty affordable) no extra ram slots are needed. So I agree, Korg screwed up on that one.

Although dealing with giga samples does require a great deal of processing power. So it could be that the chip on board the PA1X just can't handle that kinda stuff, so Korg stuck to using only 32MB.

I find that most synth making companies aren't too flexible when it comes down to software upgrades an modifications. Normally takes more then just customer feedback. But you never know. I ran into some very helpful folks at NAMM shows and was able to make companies like Digidesign and Emagic come forward with solutions to software/hardware issues that a lot of users were fed up with. May be it was luck, may be it was just timing. Can't say for sure.
Good luck anyway!

Asena,
You'd be surprised at just how many manufacturers and reps drop in here at the zone ! Ketron has listened to our pleas, Yamaha too........ If we keep banding together as a community of musicians.....who knows what we can accomplish !
