Hello,
Today I visited the local Yamaha dealer. My mission was to test the new YPG-625 (or, as they call it here, DGX-620)
When I entered the store I was pleasantly surprised that now they sell mid and high end keyboards. Few years ago, when I went there to buy my DGX-350, the top-end keyboard was the PSR-1500. Now there is a PSR-3000 on display and some high end korg synthesizers.
My first impression of the DGX-620 was "wow, what a big keyboard!". It looks really bulky. This is probably because of the new Graded Hammer key system.
I turned the keyboard on and played one of my solo piano compositions. The Live grand piano voice is genuine. I've never heard such authentic piano voice from a keyboard.
As for the keyboard action, well, I must admit the action resembles a real piano.
I was impressed by the sound of the cool! rotor organ.
The keyboard is priced at 800 euros. I can highly recommend it to people who do not own a keyboard or need an authentic piano sound and action.
To me, it is a no buy because it offers very little over my DGX-305. Most of the sounds and styles are the same. However, the possibility to use USB sticks is convenient.
I wish this keyboard had been loaded with more live! cool! and sweet! voices and why not some mega voices. I have to wait another 2 years for the next model.
Best regards,
George
