Yammy, while playing an arrangement on the keyboard in real time you can push a button and record the chord changes, for example a 1,6,2,5 progression or even the whole song progression..when you select the chord sequence play button the keyboard continues to play the arrangement back according to the chords sequenced..this is much different than just recording the intire arrangement, you can select any other styles and still have the functions of the styles, fills and variations. The chord sequence loops continuously till you decide to end the song even with the style ending,,If you desire you can re record another chord sequence in real time and still maintain your live play..The chord sequences can also be saved to memory[disk]..When you save the chord sequences, they save space because there is no need to save note and duration as we do in a standard sequence..

Originally posted by Uncle Dave: I had rather low expectations of the DisCover5 since I saw an on line demo a few months ago. First thing I noticed was the key length and feel. It's got short keys, and they are very light weight. Not terrible, but they seem to be mismatched with the rest of the look and construction on the kb. Sounds were Roland usual(great) but the general idea is not aimed at a player like me. There are some very cool real time toys for tweaking sequences, but that sort of defeats the purpose of playing a definitive arrangement of a particular song in the first place. Fran and I think that this is a stepping stone to the next arranger entry. It misses the boat as a pro insturument, and it's clearly not a "home" instrument, or arranger ..... so it must be a test of the market.
It's a nice looking board ... a little wasted space on the sides of the keys, but it's not too big. It's not too heavy. It's gold (yuk)metalic flake. It's got huge buttons ... easy to find, and my all time WORST feature (not the popular opinion, however) THAT STINKIN' TOUCH SCREEN ! It always looks filthy when it's turned off. I hate that about my VA76.
In summary - I spent all of 3 minutes with it, so I can't say much about the depth of the instrument, but my first impressions rarely steer me wrong for my own needs. There is no DisCover5 in my future, but it's a nice keyboard for around $1000. It doesn't cost MORE than that, does it?
