Folks

My old Korg Bass pedalboard is finally starting to show signs of age; they don't make them like they used to; it's only about 20 years old.....

Anyhow, I have already picked up an Alesis NanoBass to do the noise, I now need a 13 note Midi Bass Pedalboard to drive the thing.

I know that Roland, Korg, Fatar/Studiologic and Hammond/Suziki all make perfectly reasonble devices at what look to me like seriously expensive prices - you can get decent 5 octave keyboards for the same money.

However....

Thomann in Germany claim to have the Ketron K8 pedalboard for about 180 pound sterling, which is a very tempting numnber.

Ketron are a brand I'd trust (based on reports here) but further information is very lacking.

Can anyone out there tell me whether the Ketron is in the same ballpark as the Roland unit (which is fairly easy to get her in the UK) from a construction viewpoint?

Also a link to the manual would be useful - if it exists - I found no details of this unit on a (brief) visit to the Ketron Italy website.

Thanks

John

Hello John
A Pedal board has to be able to take a constant pounding from a size 12 or more, and so they have to be made that much stronger. (A Keyboard would last about 5 minutes under the same pressure)
There are very few manufactures of Keyboards or Pedal boards, (OEM) and so most manufactures just stick there own name on them, and change the case a bit.
Any you mention will be fine, but I would recommend going for a 17 Note version for more flexibility.
Also try this site here. http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/?page=shop...facturer_id=167
Hope this helps.

Ta for that.

I agree that the thing takes a pounding; and this accounts for some of the cost, epecially hardware, but mechanically it isn't complicated and electronically even less so and on this basis I believe the cost of these units is excessive for what you get.

If the Ketron is reported as up to the strain I'll go for that otherwise it's likely to be the Roland.

Unfortunately I don't have room for a 17 note version.
