My kid has a iPOD Nano 2gb.....

She has a few CD's that she made from songs she downloaded online. They show as Tracks #1, track #2 thru 83 etc etc ...
She used windows media player to rip the CD songs from the CD's and convert them to MP3 which reside in MY Music folder.....
I RENAMED all the untitled songs in the folder which only had Track numbers instead of their correct titles......
Then using the iTUNES program we transferred the newly named MP3 songs from a folder on my THUMB Drive to the iPOD Nano via a USB cable on her pc...after the download to the iPOD I looked and ALL songs returned to the Unknown TRACK # titles.....Instead of the Tiles I renamed them before the transfer....
what is wrong I want to have song titles, did I make a mistake, and can I fix it somehow?

any help is appreciated

My son says he thinks you needed to first import the songs from my music folder into the itunes library using the "file" tab in itunes and selecting "add folder to library". The songs need to be titled in itunes and then transfered from your library to the ipod. I hope this makes sense.

Hi Donny,

Here is how I have done this in the past:

Presuming you use WMP on your PC( files icon is WMP)

1. Right click on the file

2. Right click on the properties

3. Choose the summarry tab

4. Click advanced tab

5. You will see the various fields.

Left click then enter the song/artist info.

Hope this helps!

.

Chris is correct in advising you to look at the properties of each track. All computer files have a file name. One of the things that makes MP3 files special is that hey have far more extensive identification data, beyond the file name. Each files properties include a number of labels: Song title, genre, artist, album and much more. All of these are independent of the files name. Editing this info the way Chris said is a good place to start. WMP allows editing of this info, as does Winamp, Itunes and various other programs.
