Okay,

Usual wear - 501 blues, harness boots, colarless white (sometimes black) cotton long sleeve pullover shirt, black 3-button suit coat, black derby, diamond earing in the left ear.

But then I've never done a wedding ...

Me. Generally, casual shoes, jeans, dark tee shirts. The same thing I where any other day. I might where a shirt with buttons once in a while. Sometimes I'll where Christian tee shirts. I have a favorite one that says "created to worship", with an acoustic guitar on it.

But Sunday mornings at my church, I play with very plain, black dress shoes, dress pants and usually a casual button down shirt.

Peace

For a casual gig (most all my gigs are casual) I wear either a plaid or Hawaiian shirt with Docker pants. For a more formal gig, I'd wear either a plaid or Hawaiian shirt with Docker pants. I'm only comfortable when I'm casual.

Remember the 2 million $ birthday bash Tyco CEO Dennis Kozlowski gave for his wife ~ a year ago? Entertainment was by Jimmy Buffett, who wore... you guessed it, same thing he always wears. Gotta love it.

What struck me when I started playing down here... now, mind you, I am playing for the younger generation... NOBODY wears a shirt with the shirttail in. It's out. It's either tee-shirts or whatever shirt it is, it is not tucked in. Very casual.

Well, the exception is in the true cowboy bars. Alot of those dudes wear typical cowboy attire. Starched shirts. Starched jeans. George Strait look. I haven't played any of those though.

Now, this is a college town, so, they're pretty laid back and wild and crazy. And hey, I wear blue jeans and tee shirts every day of my life. Or golf shirts. So, no problem. I can clean up well though. Of course, if I were playing a nice restaurant like you guys, that's different. I was just curious WHAT you wear.

Dress so as to look "Classy" at the venue, unless there really are points to be scored for fitting into the scene. Generally you have to be at least as smart as the punters, prefeably a little more so. You want to make it clear that you are present as a professional entertainer. Don't go too far however, as this can be counterproductive (look at him, all dressed up....)

Speaking personally, I dress up a bit even for private family do's. Indeed, my (musical) partner and I are regularly told that we "scrub up well". I find if I haven't dressed for the occasion, I cannot perform at my best - it just doesn't feel the same.

Burlington Coat Factory has some great satin look shirts with matching ties and gold clasps for $19. They also had a huge selection of vests as well.
