I love that song. I really like the Perry Como version. You chose the perfect syle and tempo. Fantastic.

Scott:

Fantastic job on Quiet Nights!! Of course I'm partial to Latin/Bossas. Very nice work on the guitar and piano solos.

Esh:

Likewise very nice work on your rendition of Quiet Nights. At this point I'm strictly an instrumentalist, so I particularly enjoyed your playing.

Dirk:

I've been to your web site recently and have always enjoyed your music, keep up the good work.

Got a quick story to tell. My wife and I are in Florida vacationing. I usually sit and play at any piano I can find. This evening we were dining in a hotel restaurant in Clearwater. The house pianist was scheduled to start playing at 7 PM. About half hour before he came on I sat at the very well maintained grand piano in the restaurant and played a 20 minute set of some Scott Joplin as well as a Dave Brubeck's "Strange Meadow Lark." The waiter commented how much they enjoyed the set. Short story is the Manager picked up our dinner tab.

Yes, this is perhaps my favorite feature (2nd to new 'super articulation' voices, and terrific key feel) that I love about Tyros2. The convenience of being able to simply hit record removes the traditional recording hassles & headaches, especially when wanting to capture live performances, where spontaneous inspiration is better captured.

Esh (Jim), thanks posting your instrumental of Jobim's How Insensitive. Really enjoyed your instrumental arrangement of which has that signature ESH interpretation. I really enjoyed our meeting last year at DisneyWorld in Orlando, and hope to make it to Hilton Head some day to catch your show.

Good guess'es, but my next song's going to be one of Morrison's lesser known tunes from his 1967 Moondance album, which is perhaps my favorite Morrison album, with every song a gem.

I agree. I especially think the 'Super Articularion Nylon' & Super Articulation Concert' Guitars ideally suited for live bossa nova guitar keyboard emulation soloing. Dirk, looking forward to hearing more wonderful song performed & recorded by you soon. You are a terrific musician.

Never heard his version, but certainly can imagine how his velvet smooth vocal styling would ideally fit this song. Larry, hope all is going well with your music and gigs in Illinois. Hope you might find some time to record and share your music with us here soon.

Thanks for sharing your story. As they say: "It pays to play". Steve, looking forward to chatting with you on Skype upon return home from your vacation. I already have you added to my Skype Contact list.

Thanks again to everyone for your thoughtful replies.

Hi Scott,
We were enjoying ourselves with our entire family in our son’s beach house in North Carolina when you posted this Bossa Nova, so I didn’t have a chance to have a good listen until now. Once again, I’m one of the last to comment on your fine work. This is one of my favorites and you did a fine job with it. I especially like your improvisation on the guitar and the piano. Your choice of style and tempo was right on and the vocal added a nice dimension to the whole mix. As others have pointed out, the clarity of the sounds and especially the vocals is outstanding. Keep posting these recordings!

Hey Scott

Nice work! Very cool arrangement. If you're into do post production I would suggest tying in a simple string counter melody about half way through that would build toward the ending a couple of splash or sizzle cymbal shots building toward the end
Super job ! Loved it as usual.

I certainly can picture what an idyllic setting it must have been, and with your son's family as well. Many thanks for such kind words about my rendition of Corcovado. Btw, I just learned that Paul has recently joined the Tyros2 owner's club. Congratulations to you. Though I realize it's a big switch from the Ketron (MS60) sound, I'm confident you're really going to fall in love with the Tyros2's sound as well, once you've discovered that you're actually able to tweak Tyros2 to deliver a similar to Ketron (raw in your face) punchiness as well.

Hi Kmac: wow, haven't seen you on SZ for a very LONG (too long) time now, so it's great to see u back with us again, as I've long respected your musical knowledge, especially knowing of your formal 'music educator' background, as well as an award winning Technics keyboard artist too. Your suggestion of adding counter-melody strings is well taken and something I'll definitely consider. I need to note though that my aim with this & my other arranger keyboard performance recordings, is showcasing what I do performing live on the keyboard, in 'auto accomp' mode. Kmac: again, welcome back to the (synth) 'zone'.

Scott

Hi Scott

That is a nice tune. I can see this going over well for you with your lounge gigs, or anyplace for that matter where you want to get your audience in that dreamy mood.

I enjoyed your guitar and piano improv.

Just returning to SF Bay Area from a nice week in DC/VA and Annapolis areas. I took time out to listen again to both renditions here (Scotty's and Esh's playing). Again I am impressed mightily with the talents of these fellows.

And Esh -- you are so right -- it is very instructive to listen to the differences in output from the instrument combinations. Your setup is, to me, more "professional" in SOUND (and you are a hell of a good pianist). Scotty has a nice way of handling the soloing from a singer's position.

This is wonderful encouragement to those of us working hard to upgrade our skills.
