I got an Yamaha PSR-550 and I would like to know if there is a possibility to use new sounds with it... downloading from a website and saving on disc...or maybe even better: is there a program which has cool trance sounds which i could use with my keyboard? (is it even possible to connect the keyboard to the pc for controls?) what cable would i need for it? can i also use it for atomix virtual dj?... thx

Short answer NO! I used to own the 550. With the 550 there is no sound editing, no loading of new sounds and samples via disk. The 550 is a "what you see is what you get" arranger. Not a bad arranger, but limited in some areas.

You could use the 550 as a controller for software applications for sequencing. If you want to use the 550's sounds you'll have to record the 550's sounds as audio tracks with the software.

Man there's tons of software out there. Fruityloops is one, and there are many others. Do a search on the web. What you'll need for the 550 to connect is a Midi to USB converter. It's a box that has standard midi cables to plug into your 550 and the other end is a USB adapter to go into the USB port of your PC. They're around $30-$40 in most places.
