Last week, when Uncle Dave said that after I purchased Digitech's new VR vocal processor that I would be spoiled, he was right on the money. I played last night at the Havre de Grace, MD American Legion to a small crowd of a couple dozen, and everyone, with no exceptions, said it sounded fantastic. I used it for about 20 of the 80 songs that I performed and while I'm still in the learning mode, it's a user friendly device that really enhances any vocal performance. Thanks again for your help Dave.

As for the 450 speakers that some of the good folks on the forum recommended last week, I was not at all impressed with the quality of their sound. Additionally, my toughest critic (my wife) also said they were not up to the quality of the speaker that I currently use. However, I am currently looking a pair of EV's that are considerably light, cost a bit more, and with the addition of a powered sub-woofer, sounded incredible. I post the results of the acid test on this forum when my spouse finishes bashing my brains out for even considering purchasing more equipment.

Cheers Everyone,

Gary

Gary,

When you asked for speakers with light weight and power the Mackie 450'2 immediatly came to mind. I know many people that love them, although I sold mine also.
When someone asks about a sound system to recomend I always would say:

GO TO THE MUSIC STORE NO MATTER HOW FAR AWAY WHO CARRIES WHAT YOU THINK YOU MIGHT NEED....
BRING YOUR KBS, MICS ETC.....SET UP IN THE STORE AND PLAY THRU THE SOUND SYSTEM AT FULL VOLUME....THEN DO IT AGAIN WITH ANOTHER SYSTEM UNTIL YOU CAN MAKE A DECISION YOU CAN LIVE WITH............

WHAT I LIKE VS WHAT HE LIKES VS WHAT THEY USE IS NOT GONNA CUT IT FOR YOUR PARTICULAR TASTE......ONLY YOU CAN MAKE THE CHOICE.....

THIS IS NOT ONLY ADVICE FOR SPEAKERS BUT FOR ANY EQUIPMENT YOU NEED TO BUY.

GOOD LUCK

You played 80 songs on one gig? man your working too hard :>)

That's how my hair turned grey. Only was able to take two five minute breaks during the entire night and played a little over five hours. What the heck--it's a living.

Cheers,

Gary
