Hi Tom, First of all, congratualations on adding Sonar to your arsensal of toys. I know you're going to find it a terrific software addition, especially in conjunction with your Korg D1600, as you'll be able to transfer WAV files to and from the D1600 (via USB) to your PC & Sonar for powerful post production editing. As a Sonar owner first, I kinda went the opposite direction as you did, recently purchasing the Korg D1200mkII. Tom, you can instantly convert midi type 0 files to midi type 1 using the following freeware software utility: http://midconverter.com/ Tom, btw, thanks again for turning me on to the 'KorgStudios.com' forum. Scott

Well, guys, actually I already know how to transfer from the D1600 to my laptop for editing/mastering, which I've been doing ever since I got it 1 1/2 years ago. I edit/master using Sound Forge 7, Wavelab 4 and TrackS 24. However, my problem right now is how to get all of the tracks in a style playing on the Pa80 to record on individual tracks in Sonar all at once. In other words, I want to get the trap set to record on track 10, the bass on track 1, accompaniment 1 thru 5 on separate tracks in Sonar and the melody right 1, 2, and 3 and left to all record on separate tracks within Sonar all at the same time. Right now, all of those things record on only one track; I want to separate them. Anyone know how to do that?
BTW Scott, you are most welcome for the recommendation about korgstudios.com. Glad you are finding it useful.
Thanks, Tom

Tom, I may be wrong (wouldn't be the first time, eh ?), but.... I think you have to go to the Global setttings, MIDI out (page 16-5 of the 3.0 Eng manual) and set each midi channel to the one you want.
I believe you then have two choices... 1. Get the Sonar templates (cwp for project and .ins for instrument defs) from the IA PA80 d/loads section (I can email it to ya too !!) and use that. 2. Set all midi channels to rec, label them, set them up for the specific midi input channle coming from the PA. 'course, you'll have to do this every time you record from the PA.
I would recommend #1 as there are .doc files in the download that detail how to set it up. Let us know how it goes, or if you need a care package from me !! Regards, Steve

Well, I'm ALMOST there! Last night I went into the global page in the Pa80 and found out that the normal setup is for upper 1,2,3 and lower to be on channels 1 thru 4. Channels 5 thru 8 are off, channel 9 is bass, 10 is drums (trap set), 11 is percussion, and 12 thru 16 are accompaniment 1 thru 5. So I went into Sonar and setup 12 midi tracks and recorded once through "Angels From On High". When I played it back everything but the drums were piano, BUT it recorded everything on separate tracks, so I went in and changed upper 1 to "Sweet Harmonica" (wonder where Korg got that name, LOL) and the bass to fretless and muted everything else, and it played back OK! So now I have to go looking through all the papers I have looking for a tutorial by either Steve or AJ (I don't remember which) that was about how to customize a style so I can learn how to find out what is actually on accompaniment 1 thru 5 so I can set that up in Sonar and then it'll work the way I want! HOORAY!!!!
Thanks guys, Tom
