Hi All!

Its been a while since I posted last. Have been looking through the posts though. I needed some good advice. I have opened up a new therapeutic centre. I have in mind to put up speakers in the place. THe place itself is not big. Something like 200 Sq.Feet. I was looking at some speakers from Creative and Altec lansing (The 4.1 and the 5.1 speaker sets). I want to put speakers throughout the room and the woofer will be connected to the PC from where I will play MP3s. Any suggestions?

See that tiny little print with the word 'Search' underlined? Its just above your post, towards the right side of the page.

While in the General Arranger Keyboard Forum, click on it (search) and then search for the word Logitech. The Logitech Z series is another option for you, especially if you also play keyboards. Some folks here are using Logitechs to amplify their boards on jobs. And I think the various models are very reasonably priced for their performance capabilities. Read some of those prior discussions. These would work in the configurations you mentioned.

Fender company has a 'PDP' series (PDP-1, PDP-125) that you might want to look at. I have not got around to trying these out, and I don't know of anyone who has. They have a lower wattage output then what you will find on the Logitech Z's, and with the Fender name, I have a feeling that they will be more expensive.

For your approximate 10' x 20' foot area, a lot of things would work, but I myself would favor something in the Logitechs, most likely the Z5500.

I hear the quality of your sound here Donny

I fancy the Z's thinking that if most of the keyboardists (using Logitech) are very satisfied with their keys coming thru nicely, in larger rooms than 200 sq ft, CD's/MP3s and so on, should have no problem sounding good.

I know you love the Bose PAS on the job, if you DID size down a notch or 2, have you found a specific Bose model 4.1 / 5.1 configuration that would work well with your keys?

On my smaller gigs where Im not using the Bose PAS.....I also use YORKVILLE Products,
( Model 100 KW )....they sound great and are very high quality......

Tony, (or anybone else using 4 or 5.1 surround for keyboard amplification)

When you are playing your keys thru the Z-5500s, you are hearing a surroun-sound effect, right?
You hear an enhanced quality of sound, MORE than just the standard quality of left/right stereo. Is that right?
If so, does that triangular area commonly referred to as the 'sweet zone' or sweet area increase/open up because of the 4.1 / 5.1 multi-channel configuration?

MrEd ... I am no 'sound/audio engineer' but my initial thought would be that if the kb isn't built to deliver 5.1 surround sound, then you will not get it ... HOWEVER, when playing the board through it, it certainly sounds like more than just stereo ... there seems to be a greater 'depth' to the sound ... I don't think I've answered your question, so I would suggest you try to hear them for yourself ... I will say this ... I have heard some mp3 or wav files that were really split through all speakers ... sounded great ...
