Hi Guy's. I'm looking for some help.I have a sound canvas sc8820 which is on it's last legs, and I was hoping to replace it with the edirol sd20,but everywhere I called does not have it in stock. Can anyone tell me if the roland jv2020 is set up to play general midi out of the box.Or has anybody got experience with the kurtzweill module. Thanks in advance.Terry

Terry if you are use to a GS module[SC] for Standard Midi Files, playback..you will not be happy with the standard GM2 modules..They limit the drum sets and the overall sequence playback is inferior to the Roland SC sounds..this includes the 2020[it is a great module, just not the same as the GS stuff]..I would get another SC[GS] unit..

Thanks for the reply guys.I agree with you regarding the gs as opposed to gm2.I was hoping one of the roland modules would suffice.I changed all of my files to gm some time ago.The unit I have is small and only weighs 14 ounces.I am intrigued by the Kurtzweil ME1as I love their piano sounds, but I am not sure if it will play standard midi right out of the box.The size and weight is an issue also as my travel rack is pretty well full.I have A MIDJAY which sounds gtreat but I use it for other applications. Thanks again,Terry
