After many years with an old Roland E, I bought an EM-2000 used (at 550). I hope it is a good buy, because at same price I didn't like new Roland EXRs... and about Yamahas, I can't play its small keys.
Overall, the keyboard seems nice. I miss only the sweet tones of Yamaha, and more modern styles (type ballads). But I expect to get converted styles.
I have read the manual, but two things remain not clear to me:
1. How can I graduate the pression to keys in playing, how to get more resistance from keys? Is there a possibility to do it?.
2. Is it possible to copy all the styles of a disquete to zip drive?

I will thank links about this kb (FAQs, styles, etc).
Sorry for my bad english
Thanks.

Hello Artaher,
Congratulations on your EM-2000 purchase I love the styles and sounds and the great speakers in that board. Can't answer your questions, but you can call the Roland technical group in California and they will immediately assist you on the phone.

1) You can't change the actual resistance, but you CAN change how the sounds RESPOND to your touch. You can make a lighter or heavier touch produce the same results if you need to.
2) That's and easy one. Select "copy" from the disk menu and follow the prompts!

After a few weeks with my "new" Em-2000, I am happy with it. It seems solid, I like its key feeling, and the sounds. I prefer this keybed to Yamahas, and some sounds (ex. piano). Yes, Yamaha may have a better O.S. (easier), better screen and a few better sounds (sweet ones), but I am not happy playing its small keys and, at all, sound from Roland seems fuller an richer to me.

The only pieces that seem not very solid are the five knobs below the display, and I want to preserve them... I use specially the knob to scroll through the zip drive or disquete files (the knob named bass/bank) for listening them. Is there another way to scroll them (ex. going to next style pushing some button and not rolling the knob (similar the way you may go up or down user programas with the two buttons dedicated to it). Perhaps with pads?

Don't worry about the knobs..they are more durable then you think..
