Hello,

Since I am a new memeber on this forum I would like to introduce myself.
My name is Denis and I live in Ottawa,Canada.
I work as Software Designer but my great love is music.
I have finished musical school for classical accordion in Yugoslavia. After graduation I have continued playing accordion for 10 years in parallel with my engineering studies.
6 years ago I have moved to Canada and since then I have been playing keyboards(it is very hard to find a professional accordion here and it is not quite popular instrument)
For a long time I had KORG i2 together with
Yamaha s80 and Cs1x which I still own.
I am looking to buy a nice arranger module which will be perfect for me since I play different kinds of music.
I like jazz and that's what I usually play in my house but I used to play a lot of traditional music from my country which has a lot of Turkish elements in it(7/8,11/8 rythms). This kind of music requires very fast(light keys) since we played also very fast and complicated compositions(Cs1x is perfect for that).
I guess a good 88 keys controler , arranger module and Cs1x whould be a perfect combination for me. I hope KORG will release new module soon with style editing capabilities because I have really enjoyed my i2.
I think that X4 is very complete module but I also think it is too big and too expensive for me. If i40m had style editing I would have had it already in my home.
I guess I'll wait for a while ...

Regards,

Denis007

Denis,
Hello and yes, there is a lightweight module which has both great jazz and turkish, greek and arabic styles. It is made by Generalmusic and it is called the WK2orientalArranger module. It has 48 dedicated middle eastern styles with 4 variations, 4 intros and 4 endings but it also has dozens of pop, jazz, swing, latin, dance, waltz, polka, etc. styles. There are over 400 sounds and you can edit and create your own styles. Quarter tone tuning buttons for each note are on the front panel and there is a floppy disk drive for playing smf right from the disk or saving and loading your own stuff.
I sell this module at my music store in California. I sell the module for $995.00 US dollars. You should be able to find it somewhere in Canada I would think. Generalmusic is in Chicago and you could contact them directly and ask if there is a dealer in your area. They have a toll free 800 number. I am at home and don't have it right now.

Thanks guys!

George,
Yes, I have heard about the WK2OR.
One of the things that I don't like is the fact that it doesn't have standard 16 track sequencer which I think should be part of a good instrument.(no .mid recordings)
Also the GEM is not so popular as KORG or ROLAND an therefore you can have hard time finding additional styles on the internet while KORG,i30 for example has a huge library on internet.
I think these things are quite important nowdays.
Probably I would go for a used WK2or but I don't think that it is worth buying a new one.
Of course all this is just my opinion and for sure there are many who would disagree.

Thanks Georges

Welcome to the forum Denis007! I've been part of this forum for a short while and I have already found all sorts of help - the people here are very informative, so feel free to leave your comments and ask questions. I am very fortunate to own a MIDI keyboard, I realize how lucky I am to have that opportunity. However, my keyboard does not include even half of the features of keyboards like the PSR740 or PSR2000, but that is okay of course. That is another reason why I am part of this forum, I've been researching keyboards to see which one is the best since I am planning to buy one in the future, and I have read many people's opinions about Yamaha and General Music keyboards. So, this forum is very helpful.

So feel free to leave a comment and have fun - I'll see you around on the forums,
Ryan
