Much to my disappointment, it looks like despite reworking the One Touch system, Roland has continued it ridiculous practice of forcing chord recognition to single finger mode whenever a one touch is selected.

There is no way that Roland can call G70 a "professional instrument" while forcing single-finger chording onto users.

To me this makes the whole deal of OTS completely useless. Moreover, Roland's callous disregard for the requests of users like me (Soren's Danish G70 forum had requests for this change logged for a year and a half) makes me wonder if Roland really wants me as their customer.

Anyone interested in buying an almost new, never gigged G70?

Regards,
Alex

OK, I may have jumped the gun - there is a number of posts in the Danish forum indicating that the arranger mode can now be saved with the OTSes. I am going to give it another try tonight, and if it works I will be a happy G70 camper. I did try it twice this morning unsuccessfully, but I am going to double-check the steps I took.

So my G70 is not for sale just yet.

Regards,
Alex

Just a gentle dig, AlexK, but I sure hope you aren't as quick to explode with your lady friends.....

The name you gave it "single finger mode" is not right. It is called the Intelligent mode. When you play in that mode a normal Minor chord, you will hear a Minor chord.
When you play a Seventh chord you will get a Seventh chord. But it is also possible in the Intelligent mode to play a kind of Single Finger chord for getting the chords you want. That is why it is called Intelligent mode.

I said above that I would retract my criticism of Roland if the OTS problem was fixed - It is indeed fixed, and the OTSes work as they should (and even better, since the OTS settings are save with the styles).

Of course, I now have a large task ahead of me to edit all the 1200 or so OTSes plus the ones for the custom styles I will use to change the fingering, but I am not complaining about that.

In fact, I must echo Nielshs' opinion that the G70 does sound much better now, with more balanced styles.

I am a happy camper now!

That's good to hear. I will find time tomorrow to install the upgrade. I am very happy with the sound of the G70 as it is now. If this makes it better, that's gravy!

I downloaded and loaded the version 3 into my store G70 today and I can surely notice a difference in the voices in the styles. The changes seem to make the sounds in the styles come out more in the overall mix. I have one question for all of you that have loaded this........
When I loaded the user programs doing exactly what the directions called for, I noticed that the first two on page one couldn't be found when I tried to call them up. I reprogrammed my own in these locations and all is fine now, but I wonder if anyone else had this happen to them.
Also, I contacted Roland US regarding loading version 3 and their recommendation is to wait until it shows up on their RolandUS website. I was told that when Roland Italy released the first version of 3.0, there were a few bugs which had to be fixed and so Roland US waits until they are told by Roland Italy it can be put on the Roland US website.
