I think there's nothing wrong with OFF-Topic posts, after all this is a BBS with mutual interests", it's like a pub but then at home. 1. You get to know people pretty well if you can read between the lines. (If you can't hence what are you doing here ? you won't be able to use an arranger anyway 2. Drinks are on the "house 3. If you like you can smoke and drink as much as you want. 4. If you misbehave you will be slammed without the risk of a pub fight. etc... Fred

Donny, Scott there are many posts that I’m sure we all aren’t crazy about. However, there are many other off topic post that keep me coming here. Like Scott’s OT post of which I’ve seen several if not a few.
For example his post recently of the Tsunami tragedy. Do we not want to see anything like this on our forum again? I think we most certainly do, right? Many off topic post is the reason for many I’m sure to come to this forum.
Nigel maybe we should just let Donny and Scott make OT post . Maybe what interest them is more important than the survival of synthzone? I think not? Take Dave’s OT crap for example. If you bar Dave’s OT stuff from the zone see how many people quit visiting us then!
Check out some of the other forums. Like recording, Tascam, Fostex or the sax forum or whatever. We get more post here in a day then some of them get in a month. That's a fact!
You guys must not frequent many other forums. I suggest you get out of your little shells and expand your horizons. It's much more fun with some deviation like we get on the zone. That is why we have many visitors. Not because we talk only about rootless chords or whatever.
Nigel I think Scott, Dnj and the couple of others that spoke up on Scott’s post are dead wrong. I encourage anyone who agrees to speak up. Don't be afraid of Dnj or Scott. They can't punch their way out of a paper bag. Ha! HA! Scott, Dnj this is another of my silly jokes OK? I have to give Dave a break once in a while.
Seriously, unless you just want to ask a question on the other forums they are boring. Then you even have to wait 3 days or more for someone to go there to get an answer on those other forums that I mentioned This place is lively. People come here so often I get answers sometimes in minutes that are pertinent to my struggling to be somewhat of a successful one-man-band.
Nigel if you just cater to Scott, Dnj and the other handful of people who think like this, this forum will be history in less than a year. Please Nigel continue to let us enjoy the forum.
This is all true friends. If you don't believe me visit some of those other forums for a week. You'll fall asleep. Here Dave and I will keep you awake! If not with some important message, at least we'll piss you off and you'll have something to keep your blood pressure up.
Do we really want just a bunch of old prunes here? I don't think so!! If it comes to that you won’t have to ask me to leave. I’ll just continue to email DonM, Dave, Gary, Squeak, Beakybird, 4Ttrack and a few others. They know everything I need to know anyway. But it’s a bit more fun coming to the zone instead of just email. So lighten up everybody, expand your horizons! In other words get a life you old prunes. Ha! Ha!
I’m not mad! I’m not gonna tell Buster. I'm just sitting here laughing away waiting for Gary to return my call. Gary, where the heck are you. I hope you didn’t fall into the kickapoo barrel and drown...

Originally posted by Dnj: Where is SCOTT YEES post on annoying OT posts? Donny, I decided to DELETE my thread complaining about OT posts because I realize that it's 'up to Nigel' to monitor the forum and determine 'which' OT threads appropriate and which ones aren't. I personally have never been bothered by OT threads in the past, as some I've even found to be informative, entertaining, and amusing. But lately, in addition to topics with religious & political overtones, more and MORE of these OT threads have been started addressed to specific indivuals ONLY, of which I think more appropriate done thru PRIVATE email, and not aired publicly on the forum. Because this forum is partially funded thru member donation, of which I myself am included, I think I'm at least entitled to voice my opinion on this matter. From my personal point of view: if our Synthzone Aranger forum continues to become increasingly filled with idle gossip about nothing at all, or private OT conversations between individual members only, I plan to spend less time here. Nigel, thanks for listening. Boo: re your question on the earlier thread which I subsequently deleted about discussing football. Sure . . . I'm always game for discussing 'half-time show' music. - Scott
