I'm anxious to know your opinions. I think it sounds very good and the possibility of changing the drawbar settings during playing is demonstrated well. I personally think it could be a bit less clean, but since it also has overdrive and leakage parameters you can probably make it sound real "dirty" as well.

I'm not too impressed with that demo. I own the Roland Vk8m tonewheel simulator which is supposedly based on COSM, and the tonewheels in that sound much better than the G70.

I think I also heard from Roel the leslie Sim only has the lower rotor and not the upper horm? I don't know if that's true or not.

The VK8m has lots of amp settings to make things nice and dirty. Maybe digging deeper in the G70 will yield some surprises.

Way too clean I have a VR760 and it sounds much beefier than the G70 drawbars. This could change my decision to go with a G70 because I'm a real drawbar fan. The virtual DBs here sound more synthesized. It could just be the demo. A lot depends on overdrive and leslie sim adjustments. If I hadn't heard it on the Roland site, I would say it was a Yamaha - too pristine.

I am under the impression the G70 has the same parameters as the tonewheel organ and Leslie simulator found in the VR760...Don't jump to any conclusions..wait and try it for yourself....I'm betting the G70 will be a keeper..

I checked it and I can say that G-70 DBs are pratically same as VR-760 and VK, as Fran also says.
Try it and I think you'll confirm my impressions.

Yeah, I also think it is mostly a matter of the style of playing and the registration. As I mentioned in an earlier post after I visiting a demo, the Roland guy demonstrated the tonewheel sounds more extensive after the official demo. He happened to be a gospel and blues enthusiast and made the G70 sound a lot less clean than in this demo.

I think you can easily make a vintage B3 sound like a 70's electronic organ if you don't know how to properly use the drawbars, persussion, leslie etc, and most of all do not master the special playing techniques. I'm afraid I also don't have these playing skills, although I would know my way around a B3 just because I'm really interested in it.

Thanks for letting us know about the demo.
I'm with krkr and cassp, this is not impressing and please notice the style that is not impressing either.(IMHO)
The simulator is SINGLE without doubts!

My impressions of the various G-70 demos so far is that, although they are all very well played, or sequenced, by an excellent musician, they all have a rather polite, traditional, "old-fashioned" sort of flavour to them.

For example, the recent drawbar demo is well played & the sounds chosen fit the style of the piece, but the whole thing sounds very "1980s home organ" to me. No balls.

This appears to be an issue with Roland arrangers generally, in that they seem to be factory voiced and programmed to appeal to an older generation type playing taste. Before you all beat me to death over the choice of phrase - I'm 56 :-)

Another symptom of the mind-set that Roland seems to be in, is that (on their UK website, at least) they partially split the site into "Musical Instruments" & "Consumer Products". Guess which half the arrangers live in............
