Hi elabeta. Regarding your question about changing the G1000 for a VA7. I have an EM2000 which is very similar to the G1000. I also play the VA7 each week at a local friends, so I am used to playing both.
I to like the Variphase, but I am not sure just how much I would really use it, although I do find use for the D-Beam on both machines if used sparingly. However I would not myself change my EM2000 for a VA7, but off cause this is personal.
I was surprised to find the EM2000 is easier to use, the touch screen on the VA7 is a bit messy, and you may find the same. Are you not going to miss your 76 note keyboard on the G1000?.

Eta,
I would wait until the VA 76 comes out (unless you need internal speakers). The overall keyboard feeling is better on a 76 note KB, the price shouldn't be much higher and I think that the VA76 will have a longer commercial life. On the Roland site of Italy (http://www.roland.it) you fill find a lot of useful infos on the Variphrase and on the forthcoming Variphrase libraries (in zip-disk format).
Ciao.
