It seems that the new series of Yamaha Motif synths has been leaked several weeks before NAMM:

Yamaha Motif XS6 Music Production Synthesizer
Yamaha Motif XS7 Music Production Synthesizer
Yamaha Motif XS8 Music Production Synthesizer

Apparently the Super Articulation technology is no longer reserved for the Tyros line:

The Yamaha Motif XS6 synthesizer features Xpanded Articulation sounds that will inspire your creativity, and Performance Recording with 4 intelligent arpeggiators instantly captures your ideas. The new large color LCD is an attractive addition to the Yamaha Motif series.

The Motif XS6 also has an Integrated Sampling Sequencer with studio-style mixing and VCM effects that let you create complete MIDI/audio productions. With computer connectivity and Cubase AI software you can expand your musical possibilities.

Yamaha Motif XS6 synthesizer - making great sounding music has never been easier.

Yamaha Motif XS6 Profile:
61-touch sensitive keys
New UI with large color LCD and 8 knobs and sliders
Xpanded Articulation Synth engine with 355MB of WAVE ROM
Studio-style mixing environment with Virtual Circuitry Modeling effects
4 intelligent arpeggiators with instant Performance Recording
Integrated Sampling Sequencer with 1GB of optional memory
Total Computer Integration and Cubase AI software included

Kind regards,
Tommy

Finally.....!

Now I won't HAVE to buy a T2 JUST to get the wonderful SA voices. Maybe, with any luck, the guitar SA voices will not need extensive translation, and I'll be able to use my T2 style translations on my G70 and the guitar voices will work!

Now if only they bring out a rack!

The Motif XS 6 - $2800 - what a fantastic price!
The Motif ES 6 was (is) $1700 at Andy's - the new synth costs $1000 more. However, George Kaye stated in this thread the price of the XS would be "a little higher". So where's the catch?

On a second thought = I noticed Andy sells the new PSR S-500 for $900 whereas in Europe it sells for 650-700 euros. Could they have equalized the prices in Europe and U.S.A. ?

George

I haven't received my new price list from Yamaha yet. It should arrive next week.
I was told that the new PSR-S500 should sell around the $500.00 price so I don't know where the $900 price is coming from. If you will notice Andy's prices for everything available has both a retail price and a MAP price but the two new products mentioned in this thread only has an "our" price. The store might not have been told the actual Yamaha prices for both retail and map yet. I usually have these prices available to me at the exact same time everyone else gets them and they have not been mailed out yet.

Got a feeling that price is a 'list price'....

Yamaha are going to be hard pressed to get a LOT more out of this line compared to the old MotifES line...

For those of us that like arrangers, the big news is that these XS use real chord recognition for the arps, putting them more on a par with Karma as arranger alterntives.
