This is psr2000. What is the best way to change RH voices while playing? This is coming up quite often where I'll want to switch from piano to electric guitar or whatever but I haven't figured out a way to do it fast. One can be Main and one can be Layer but I have to press Main off and Layer on if I do that? Am I missing something with that?

I thought I could load the right guitar under the Guitar voice button but if I do that, no, it pulls up the first guitar in the group if I press guitar (with Main... piano... playing).

The following is a system that I created when I had the PSR2000. I am still using the same system today on my Tyros for an anniversary for a couple that I performed for their wedding 5 years ago.

These voices have been downloaded by about 18,000 people over on Joe Waters' psrtutorial.com I never suspected that many people would be interested in this. See if it is a system that you like for yourself.

BTW, in case anyone else is interested. These voices will load into similar PSR, Tyros and I suppose Clavinova's.

Not all sounds will transfer sounding properly, but you can easily keep the ones that sound good and substitute your own favorite sounds from your particular keyboard.


One last thought on this. I created this so I could have the quickest and easiest method of changing voices on the fly possible. I tried not to limit myself to just a few sounds that easily can get old.

Each page is really 10 settings for different popular band types. So, you will be able to easily pick from the 10 voices on one page and not have to go to another page unless you want to in any given song.

That't pretty cool what you've done, Scott.

What I'd like to know is how I can push ONE button and trigger the next voice I want. With or without your system. I find it difficult/impossible to press more than one button on the fly with many songs. My right hand is always being used. Right up to the point I am ready to trigger the next voice. From piano to guitar, for instance.

What I did was set a different voice for each of the 8 registrations. Then set the Freeze parameters to freeze everything EXCEPT that voice. That way when you change registrations with the Freeze light on, all you change is the lead voice. You will always have 8 instant voices ready.

I don't have a PSR2000 but I think you could use the registration buttons to do quick voice changes.

Program all the buttons with the same configurations except the main voice - each button will have a different voice in the main section. You just need to press only one button (one of the reg. buttons) to change the main voice.

Just my thoughts

I had 8 basic registrations. One CW Swing, one 2/4 CW, one Waltz, one 4/4 slow, one Shuffle, one 6/8, one R&R, one Latin.
With these I could do literally hundreds of requests. Each of them had a different right-hand lead sound assigned to it. When the Freeze light is off, the entire registration changes. When the Freeze light is on, only the right-hand voice changes.
You set the Freeze parameters by pressing the Direct Access button, then the Freeze button.
As I recall, I had Piano on one, Piano with an Octave shift on two, Acc. guitar on three, Steel guitar on four, organ on five, R&R guitar on six, Sax on seven and Growl Sax on eight.
Of course you can do more than one bank if you wish.

You will easily be able to tell which voices sound good and the ones that don't. The ones that don't sound good kind of drop out in volume, at least that's what happens on my Tyros.
