I gave myself an extra Christmas gift: I ordered a Generalmusic RP-X piano module. It has the same physical modelling piano sounds as the Promega 3. I hope that it can replace my Synthogy Ivory VSTi. Then I don't need to turn on the computer to make music anymore

Kind regards,
Tommy

Jim congratulations on the MPP. I got one last Christmas, you're gonna love that. If you have any questions give me a shout.

I was mostly a giver this year, no new musical toys, but my wife gave me 2 sets of DVD/CDS produced by Ramsey Lewis. They are called Legends of Jazz with Ramsey Lewis. Some great stuff especially the volume with Joey Defrancesco and Dr. Lonnie Smith. Those cats can play. http://www.legendsofjazz.net

I've had Hank's RnRoller borrowed for a couple of months. He probably put Susan up to it so he could get it back!

Actually my wife was being pretty selfish. She was getting tired of carrying my gear in a piece at a time.
Seriously, I've had a similar dolly for years. The new one folds up a little better though.
Next on the list is acquiring a Korg PA800, I hope in the next couple of weeks.

Best gift...a double neck cigar box guitar built by my youngest son! It has two three string neck...no frets! It's the most wonderfully USELESS thing I've ever owned.

I LOVE IT!

A new keyboard will be on it's way, but not for a few weeks. It'll be either the SD5 or PA800. Probably SD5, but looking forward to Don's impressions on the Korg.

Glenn, just curious why an SD5 over the PA800?
I'm considering a new board and am looking at all possibilites.
Thx

Well, that's not for sure yet, but I saw the SD5 demod earlier this year by AJ, and was very much impressed with it's sounds, styles, and new features. I play the SD1 now and don't really think I'd want to live without the Ketron drums, just love 'em.

My choir gave me a $150 gift card to Guitar Center - wow! And I also got some good CDs: Chicago, Beatles (Love), Tony Bennett and Bonnie Raitt. Lastly, a few warm polo shirts and a heated seat for my car - it's gonna get real cold in Michigan real soon.

I gave the church an Allen organ to put up front near the sanctuary - kind of a give and get for me.

Didn't know they were available yet. Where did you order this from? US? How much? Are you ordering it unheard?

Esh,

It has been available in Europe since the beginning of December. I have ordered mine here for €549. I understand that it should be availble in the US early next year.

No, I have not heard it, but the sound engine should be same as in the Promega 3 and PRP700/800. As you know these models have very realistic piano voices that are based on physical modelling instead of the usual velocity switching. My only worry is that I have previously had a GEM WK2 arranger module which had very noisy audio outputs. I hope this will not be the case with the RP-X.

Kind regards,
Tommy

If anyone is interested in knowing more about the new GEM piano module there are some great videos here . In the videos David McMahan (Synthzone memeber WDMcM) demonstrates the PRP-800 which have the same sound engine as the RP-X.

Kind regards,
Tommy

Whats did I get for Christmas?

I gots da LG 19" widescreen LCD monitor I'm now reading on.

I guess I was a good boy all year - but obviously not good enough to get a PA800.

Nudge nudge, wink wink, Mrs. R.
