To all Tyros expert, does anybody know how to set up keyboard's aftertouch to bend note. I could not find it under aftertouch menu, thanks for any info.

I don't own the Tyros, but if that's an option (which if it is... may I say a damn cool option) you'd need to look into your manual regarding "aftertouch" parameter settings. There are quite a few Tyros owners here who could help you there. The Tyros is on my list for consideration for my new set up.

Squeak, yes it's the option on a lot of models, some does sound better than other. And yes it's a cool option especially for me, since that's how I bend the note up or down( program differently). My SD1 has it, but does not sound quite as good as Roland XP to my ears.

I used to have an XP and now that you mention it I think I do recall playing with that setting. Which one did you have? I had the 60. Wanted the 80 but was out of my budget at the time.

That's cool the Tyros has this option. The Tyros looks more and more like the board I'm going to buy for my new set up. It's got great sounds, and killer features.

Hi,

According to the manual, in order to control pitch via aftertouch, you must first go to the Sound Creator and edit an existing sound to respond to aftertouch and assign aftertouch to pitch. Then set the aftertouch amount under Function/Controller/Panel Controller. However looking through the manual there doesn't appear to be a parameter for Aftertouch -> Pitch Bend. “?”

FYI- This is similar to what can be done on the Genesys to assign pitch to aftertouch. I have a guitar patch that I created that has a lead guitar that bends via the Pitch Bend wheel in the normal way. But when a high velocity is used on the keyboard, this brings in another lead guitar sound that is pitched 1 step below the initial guitar sound. Then aftertouch is assigned to only that second sound and is programmed to bend its pitch up to become unison with the initial sound. Makes for a great way to do unison bends ala Carlos Santana.

Best Regards,

Dave

Tye, as Dave correctly stated, there's no way (on the Tyros & I believe the PSR3000/2000 as well) to assign 'pitch bend' to keyboard aftertouch. The only way to produce (while playing live) a pitch bend, is from the pitch wheel itself, or assigning pitch bend to one of the Tyros' three assignable footpedals.

Function: Controller > Foot Pedal Tab

Foot Pedal 1, 2, or 3:
Function > select 'Pitch Bend'

Or you could get a device from MIDI Solutions that converts incoming MIDI CC numbers. Then use MIDI OUT A into the device, let the device turn aftertouch data into pitch bend data and bring that back in on MIDI INPUT B. This would work provided the Tyros has the necessary MIDI configuration possibilities.

Or you could just get used to the pitch bend wheel.

Good luck,

Dave

Or you can trade the Tyros in on a Genesys Pro or G70..

BTW, Roland use to have a higher bit resolution for the pitch bend control,,,than the competition...
Maybe that is why the XP sounds better..
