Bebop: Congrats on your new PSR keyboard and welcome to the world of Yamaha. I tend to agree that unless you plan to utilize the arranger keyboard to play a lot of solo piano (arranger OFF), then 61 keys should be sufficient, as it provides (even without having to use the transpose octave button) up to 3-1/2 octaves for right hand playing & soloing (while left hand triggers chords (1-1/2 octaves: C1 - F#2). As far as stiff piano action goes, neither the 9000pro or PSR9000 have'fully weighted' acoustic piano like keys (not even close). Even though many KBs may claim it has weighted keys, they may not be fully weighted acoustic piano keys at all, but instead synth keys which provide just a little more weight than the lightest synth action keys, such as on the PSR2000. My favorite arranger keyboards to play, in terms of synth 'keyboard action' responsivness are: Yamaha 9000pro and Solton SD1. I gave up hauling around a 'true' weighted action keyboard a LONG time ago, because of its excessive weight (over 70 lbs). Looking forward to hearing some songs from you produced on your new PSR9000. - Scott [This message has been edited by Scottyee (edited 06-10-2002).]

Hi Esh, You are right that your Kurzweil PC88 (and my Fatar 1176 as well) keyboards both have 'fully weighted' piano action while the 9000pro has synth action. Coming from a background as an acoustic piano player myself, I fully understand your fustrations in adjusting to the synth action of the 9000. It took me a while to ajust from my 'heavier than typical' weighted action acoustic Steinway to a synth action (no weight) keyboard, but now that I have adjusted, I can now easily switch back and worth. When purchased my first synth arranger (Technics KN5000), I thought I'd never adapt, but keep the faith, in time you'll be glad you persisted in working to adjust your playing style & technique to adapt to synth keys. Your back will thank you for it, if and when you have to move it. Scott
