Thanks to everyone on this forum for your help and advice imputes on this subject.
Yesterday I purchased the psr9000 new at 1999.00 US with a 30 day return/refund in stock at a local dealer. The best offer for the PRO was 2733 shipped from a Mid US State.
I was able to do a side by side A B C comparison and,
The contributing factor was the keyboard action. I did not want the stiff piano action as I have now been playing mostly keyboards and organs since 1970. I have a hard time playing the piano action for any length of time. I also found with the convenient octave shift button at the right end I don't really need the 76 key and all else is about the same except for the expansion slots I can live without and 16 megs of voices, also no problem.
Thanks to all that helped me on this project.
best to all
I am keeping my Technics KN6000 and they will coexist.

Congrats on your new PSR keyboard and welcome to the world of Yamaha. I tend to agree that unless you plan to utilize the arranger keyboard to play a lot of solo piano (arranger OFF), then 61 keys should be sufficient, as it provides (even without having to use the transpose octave button) up to 3-1/2 octaves for right hand playing & soloing (while left hand triggers chords (1-1/2 octaves: C1 - F#2). As far as stiff piano action goes, neither the 9000pro or PSR9000 have'fully weighted' acoustic piano like keys (not even close). Even though many KBs may claim it has weighted keys, they may not be fully weighted acoustic piano keys at all, but instead synth keys which provide just a little more weight than the lightest synth action keys, such as on the PSR2000. My favorite arranger keyboards to play, in terms of synth 'keyboard action' responsivness are: Yamaha 9000pro and Solton SD1. I gave up hauling around a 'true' weighted action keyboard a LONG time ago, because of its excessive weight (over 70 lbs). Looking forward to hearing some songs from you produced on your new PSR9000. - Scott

Piano action... on the 9000 Pro? I WISH!!! The 9000 Pro has to same no-action keyboard as the PSR9000 I thought. I'm used to playing a Kurzweil PC88 which has real weighted action and the 9000 Pro's light/no-action is taking me a lot of getting used to. Likewise with the 9000's stock piano sound, which I disliked until I went with the piano expansion card. But that's a pianist talking... enjoy your PSR.

Hi Esh,
You are right that your Kurzweil PC88 (and my Fatar 1176 as well) keyboards both have 'fully weighted' piano action while the 9000pro has synth action. Coming from a background as an acoustic piano player myself, I fully understand your fustrations in adjusting to the synth action of the 9000. It took me a while to ajust from my 'heavier than typical' weighted action acoustic Steinway to a synth action (no weight) keyboard, but now that I have adjusted, I can now easily switch back and worth. When purchased my first synth arranger (Technics KN5000), I thought I'd never adapt, but keep the faith, in time you'll be glad you persisted in working to adjust your playing style & technique to adapt to synth keys. Your back will thank you for it, if and when you have to move it.

Scott:
I'm already "used" to the lighter action (took about six weeks I reckon). And the weight factor was one of the main reasons I went to the 9000 Pro from the Kurzweil PC88 (which weighed about 85lbs in it's flight case). No regrets, but I'll keep the Kurzweil for special occasions.

BEBOP!
Have fun with your Brand New Prs9000!

I downloaded Platitum Registrations from the Net and Multipads ... but this was 9 months ago ... if anyone knows where we all can get other Registrations and ready Made Multipads ... let us all know where!

Yahoo PRS styles, and PRS SONG forums used to be good place to go ... but I think after Yamaha Lawyers visited the Moderator... is doesn't seem the same as it was in the past... (just my opinion) .
Post LINK if you don't mind!
Thanks!

The styles and songs groups on Yahoo are still excellent forums. If there's something you need and don't find it in the files, just ask and someone will send it to you. Yamaha can't stop that.
Actually the only things that were deleted were the PSR2000 and CVP factory styles. I'm afraid to say here where they are available but if you want them, let me know and I'll try to help.
