I am planning to buy as second keyboard/syntheziser a roland rs 5.
Is it possible to eliminate the velocity ?
I suppose there are no styles in such instrument ? No chord regognition ?

Thanks,
Alain

Thanks for the reply.
Do you mean you can eliminate the velocity completly or put to a low level ?
I have also a technics kn6500...could I connect them....use the styles off the technics and play the lead voice with the roland rs 5 ?
Thanks
Alain

-I 'm sure you can put it off but as far as I know, you can low level it.

-you can connect the keyboard but you can use either teh Rs-5 sounds or the KN-6500 as both will sound together when you connect them.you can just forget about the connection thing and play both of the keyboard sepratly.

Alain,

When you get the RS-5, set the KN6500 up accordingly.

1)Press the Favourites button on the KN6500
2)Press Midi Presets (bottumn left), and you will be on the first page.

3) Select "WITH APC". Then go to the next page.

4) Select "Sound module", then OK.

Now what you have here, is your RS-5 acting as an external device, but instead of everything coming out all jumbled up, you will be able to play Auto play chord on the RS-5 (from the KN6500's sounds of course) - AND lead from your RS-5.

Set the "Lead MIDI channel" - or right hand on the RS-5 to Channel "7" or something, so that you don't play back the sounds on the KN6500 (if that is you motive). The KN6500 MIDI settings are as follows:

Midi Channels

MIDI 1 Right 1
MIDI 2 Right 2
MIDI 3 Left 3
MIDI 4 Part 4
MIDI 5-16 Part 5- 16

However, if you wish to use the composer to record some of the RS-5 sounds in, you will need to set the RS-5 MIDI channels to:

Bass = 9
ACC 1 = 12
ACC 2 = 13
ACC 3 = 14
ACC 4 = 15
ACC 5 = 16

Drums will be on Channel 10.

If you Don't want to use you RS-5 to change Chords, or used as an ACC player, then select "WITHOUT APC" on step 3 above.

It's quiet cool the way you can change chords on another instrument - like a Piano. and super if you use Pianist mode!

I hope this helps a little, because getting in a "Midi-muddle” can cause a Nervous breakdown...I'm still Recovering
