Seriously though, that's a lot of lens there. would you use it that often? or realistically travel with it? How about a telescope with a camera mount. Last time I bought a telephoto for my Nikon autofocus (not one of the cheesy ones but, a good one) I realized that I didn't use the big dubebee of a lens that often enough to justify the money I spent on it However I will say one thing, it really performs well.
Professional automatic cameras perform so well these days that if you leave it on and put it in a box and fire the shutter remote, it will take a pic of the inside of the box it's in and the photo will be awesome quality too!

I have one 18-55mm lens and a cheap 75-300mm. I don't see myself carrying a tripod around, so what I could use is something with an image stabilizer. Canon also has the 28-135mm with IS and that's probably what I'll end up getting. It's not an 'L' lens like the 100-400, so it's fairly affordable.

Also, Morph, with the Canon EOS 300D there's a factor of x1.6. Something about the image sensor, so that 400mm is really a...640mm!

I use a mirror telescope for umm cough cough oh,.... the surf. I use it for the surf (ya know, waves n STUFF) has Ziess-Jena? (whatever the hell that is)

Now that winter NAMM draws near, I remember back in the 80's when I was a happening guy, I puffed a doob with one of the ZZ Top Models (the one w/ the pink fuzzies) in a room I rented (probably the fastest I had ever rented a room BTW) and she did the tube steak boogie. (Of course Dixie was about old enough to be in a stroller at that time)
