Charlie,
The 5th (center) speaker is positioned on top of the subwoofer and the satelites are on the stands positioned about 4 to 5 feet to each side and approximately four feet to the rear of the keyboard. Position of the satellites will vary somewhat with the vocal EQs, the mic you are using, and its ability to supress feedback.
Good luck,
Gary

Charlie, The only thing I know about the Yamaha PAS system is what I've read on some other forums. No one provided glowing reports about the system, and in most instances, those that purchased the Yammies returned them to the dealers. Charlie, I suggest you purchase the Logitech system from Comp U.S. of another retailer with a liberal return policy, one that will not penalize you for returning the equipment if it cannot fit your needs. Let your ears make the decission for you. And, if you're married, let your wife's ears make the decission--they're better at this stuff than we are. ![](http://www.synthzone.com/ubbs/wink.gif) Cassp, Have you tried the Logitech Z-5500 system? If so, I'm surprized at your comments about them. With only one exception I know of, Scott Langholf, everyone loves the sound quality and the system's ability to provide excellent coverage over a broad venue for audiences to 150 people. I've used the Z-5500 with just the keyboard and mic, and with an Alesis Multimix 6FX mixer, fired a pair of guitars and two mics through it, plus the keyboard, and it kicked butt over any conventional system I've used in the past 20 years--including my big Peavey's that I spent a small fortune on. The key to using them is proper tuning of the keyboard's EQs, Mic EQs and setting the volumes correctly. When this is done, the entire spectrum of sounds is transmitted beautifully through those tiny speakers and subwoofer. Naturally, speaker placement has a lot to do with the dispersion of sound, just as it does with any other system. If the speakers are not positioned correctly, sound quality and coverage will obviously suffer. Good luck, Gary ------------------ Travlin' Easy

Charlie...it's all about sound you like, durability (in my case...I play a lot outside) and set-up time. I work 250-300 jobs a year...many back to back, an hour apart, with 20 minutes of drive time.
I tried several Logtech and didn't like the build quality, lack of mid's or the number of components. I use a Carvin 200 watt 13 pound 6 channel head and whatever speakers are called for($489 with connection cords, 2 200 watt 10's and a serviceable vocal mic).. I have 2 10"s, 2 12"s, 2 15"s. The head has on board effects. It's constructed like a tank...over 1,000 jobs...been dropped, rained on, etc. Connection is two speaker cords. You already have a serviceable mixer. Why not consider a power amp and speakers? Old school, but very serviceable. You could get a 300-400 watt stereo power amp for under $200 and a set of 12's for $300.00.
Another option: the green 100 watt Carvin with three inputs and two on board effects processors,a 12 and a horn....$399, with an available extension speaker, or with any available 8 ohm 2nd speaker. I do 25% of my restaurant jobs (keyboard, mic and guitar) with this compact "full range" unit. I use Carvin because of durability, price and a long-time relationship with the factory, but other manufacturers have similar units of similar quality.
Try them, if you can. Carvin and Musicians Friend have liberal return policies. Logtech isn't for me, but if they do the job, get one!
Best of luck,
Russ
